just a note for those not aware....... I have about 8 hours on my new boat. Opened it up for the first time. 60 mph in no time. As i began trimming it out to what i thought was fine, i developed a vibration at wot , and backed off the throttle . I took it to the shop, they drove it and experianced the same vibration, and told me the motor was trimmed to high at this point. Thet claimed trimming the motor down a bit gets rid of the vibration. I sure hope thats the case, although the boat seem to run nice at the trim setting i had it at. So i thought i would just share this info to those who are not awhare and or any new boat owners.

You should be able to trim it up to the point where RPM's are at their maximum. At some point as you continue to trim up, the RPM's will start falling off again. If you can't run at that maximum trim setting, there's a problem that needs to be fixed.

Maybe i'm wrong, but i would think if you trimmed past the "sweet" spot, the prop would start to blow out, causing rpm to go higher, and the boat to go slower......

If i trim too high my 190 porpuses so i rarely trim that high.

You're right, but normally you'd have to go quite a ways past the sweet spot before that would happen. What you want to do is start out on a reasonably calm day, trimmed all the way down. Get up on plane and bump the trim up in tiny increments, waiting a few moments in between bumps, and watching the tachometer. Find your sweet spot that way, and if you can't maintain it without the vibration, or if blowout starts occurring while you're still trimmed reasonably low, something's wrong.

I think you'd want to see that you could trim it both to the sweet spot as described above and toward the upper end of the trim range on the trim gauge (NOT the trailer position, or beach as Volvo calls it). If you're getting vibration and your trim setting is in the 'trim range' on the gauge (assuming the gauge works), I'd want then to check the u-joints and gimble bearing. I can trim my old OMC that way and don't get vibration.

thanks for the info guys. I ran it today for 2 hours or so. I was running the trim too high. No more vibes, and plenty of speed. Thanks again !!

You might want to take a hand held GPS with you, according to the tests I've read on the 200SS the real top speed is around 52 mph. Your speedo may be reading really high.

In responce to jw, i just ran with a buddy with gps , side by by side, and he redistered 62 mph, with my boat having 1/4 tank of gas, wide open, and no passengers..........
