Hi everyone. Have been a "lurker" here for a while and thought I should join in order to contribute when possible!
I reside in West Michigan and do most of my boating on Lake Michigan. Can't wait for the final ice chunks to melt!

Welcome! Always glad to see another Sundowner owner join up. Especially one as old as yours. An 84' eh? Wasn't that called the Santara then? Still awesome. Post some pics. Easiest way is to start a photobucket account.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
It was called the Sundowner in '84, but used the Santara hull. Here's a pic from the original brochure, as well as some recent pics of mine.

Welcome! Very nice looking 84.
I grew up boating on an 86 215. Love seeing these boats still on the water today. Brings back good memories.

Welcome!

Guess I have never seen one of those. I really like the look of that bow rail, does it get in the way or is it really useful?

See how the older designs were more functional and how much more room they had, because they did not have the huge sun pads that no one ever seems to use...

I definitely like the bow rail. Doesn't get in the way at all, very helpful when anchoring in wave action.
We definitely need the room- we're a family of 6. Last spring I checked out the latest Sundowner 235 and it was way too small. Less headroom in the cuddy, fewer seats, less cockpit room, etc. We can still lounge on the fold down seats or back bench if we want- no need for lounges or pads for us :)
