Dropped off the boat to my mechanic so he could adjust my new control cables last week. Now mind you, he's a great mechanic, very fair, and brutally honest. Anyway, received a call this afternoon when he asked if I put my batteries in the boat before dropping it off.

Right about then, I knew it wasn't going to be good... I said I did and he said, "uh oh!" Uh oh is never good to hear... Long story short, some prick stole my batteries and to make matters worse, they (he, she, or whomever) clipped my battery cables! My mechanic is reviewing security camera footage to see if he can identify the thieving prick!

He's going to fix the cut cables and replace the batteries. I hope he can provide the cops some decent video footage....

Couple things...Firecadet, right on with my funky hatch removal! For those who don't know, I had to replace my engine hatch last year and it's a real joy to open. FW's templates aren't the best...

Deafwish, he's replacing/repairing everything at his expense! He feels horrible and I think he doesn't want to lose any business. He does a lot of work on boats at my marina and word of mouth is a killer where we are.

I'm more pissed about the cables being cut! The Adminral is concerned about any other damage (so am I) they may have caused.

On a side note, I had removed the faucet in the head and repainted it, removed the plastic mounts for the A/C and CO2 detectors and had my cousin make me new mounts (which I haven't installed yet). He was panicked because he said they stole the A/C control, both CO2 detectors and the faucet until I told him I have the in my garage!

That is a shame but consider yourself lucky the batteries were all they took. I lurk on www.thehulltruth.com and there is at least a thread a week where a member is reporting a theft of some kind (mainly lower-units).
