Fourteen YEAR drought leaves Lake Mead at all-time low: Eerie pictures of the abandoned marinas and tourist attractions left high and dry
Drought will deplete the vast Lake Mead this week to levels not seen since Hoover Dam was completed and the reservoir on the Colorado River was filled in the 1930s
The low water levels is the result of a 14-year drought in the Southwest

Experts say the water levels will be enough to supply water to places like Las Vegas, Phoenix and Los Angeles for at least one more year

Holy crap! The last time we were on Mead was in 2001. We launched at Overton and went all the way to the dam. Stopped at all of the marinas and fed the ducks at Las Vegas ramp. I looked through our pictures from that trip and it is down right depressing! I don't imagine you can even get into Gregg Basin now can you?

That is very sad lake Mead used to be wicked beautiful...........This is why I boat in the pacific ocean...........Water levels have never been higher!

I lived in Vegas for a 2+ years before moving in 2007. It is amazing how many people are irresponsible with water there even though they live in the desert. Not just Vegas, but everyone that sucks water from the Colorado River.

geesh my 240 Acer lake is starting to look much bigger now :)

This is absolutely fascinating me. I had no clue this was happening (seeing i'm in CT .... )

The future does not look very promising for Lake Mead.

Time to put your house on the market and move to deeper water.. i hit a 184' hole on Saturday while exploring a new section of the lake...
