I have never seen anyone else use the same towing rig as me, but today I ran into a fellow X5'er using his diesel to tow his boat. (He had already walked it out), but I still had to snap a picture. Chatted for a while about boats, and cars, and I had to haul the 242 out, while he was just putting his in. ![]() ![]() |

Not too many people have 65k to spend on a tow rig that's only rated for 6500lb. Show off ![]() (I'm also a fellow BMW owner and I'd love to have an X5 to tow my boat hahaha) |

Being an ex BMW X owner, the only tip I'd give is to proactively service the "Fill For Life" ZF transmission. Using a BMW for heavy duty use while under new car warranty is fine, but start saving your pennies for future out of warranty failures. I'll never own one again & will continue choosing the Ford/ Chev/ Toyota variant, due to running costs. My wife did love it, though! ![]() |

My Porsche Cayenne S is. If you are talking about the hitch, Class 3 hitches go up pretty high. I have a class 3 8,000lb hitch on my car. You can get one for 10,000lb here: http://www.etrailer.com/Ball-Mounts/And ... M3410.html |
