Well, the season's over for me :( , and for the past month or so I've been looking into winterization/storage costs. I have quite a few marinas in my area, so I had to do a lot of legwork.

After meeting with the folks at 6 marinas close to me (Dredge Harbor in Riverside, Clarks Landing in Riverside, G Winter's in Riverside, Riverside Marina in Riverside, Curtin Marina in Burlington, and Baum's Cove Marina in Tullytown PA), I settled on giving either Riverside Marina or Baum's Cove Marina the job since they really seem to know what they're doing. My 328 Vista is my first boat and I've only had it for 2 months so I didn't want to take the chance doing the winterization work myself and screw something up...I'm no mechanic, but I truly had no idea of what I was going to have to pay for this process.

Here are the details for the winterization/winter storage work orders from both marinas:

Riverside Marina
- Winterize both engines $340.
- Complete Outdrive Serv. (Volvo) $320.
- Winterize genset $130.
- Winterize A/C $150.
- Winterize head $125.
- Winterize ice maker $50.
- Winterize dockside F/W valve $30.
- Oil Change both engines $150.
- Oil Change Genset $75.
- Winterize Fresh water system $175.
- Shrinkwrap w/zipper door $544.
- Dry storage (incl. hauling, powerwash,
blocking, and spring relaunch) $1198.
- Materials included (antifreeze for
engines, antifreeze for water, silicone,
fuel stabilizer, engine oil, oil filter,
fuel filter, drive gasket, drive oil) $0.

Although Baum's Cove comes in a little less I get the feeling they're nickel and diming me, which rubs me the wrong way, plus there's no guarantee that extra supplies wouldn't be needed, which I would be charged additional for.

Also, believe it or not, these two marinas are not the most expensive. I know, I know...I'm nuts to spend this kind of money. I'm hopeful that by the end of next season I'll know enough to do most, if not all, of this myself.

Yes, I'm crying :(

My dealer charges an hour labor to pull & service a VP drive - $80. So it's exactly half of what they charged you. Man.

We could always trade boats, I guess. :D

Holy crap... And I thought the 140.00 spent tonight on PolyGlycol and two 1 gallon jugs of Mobil-1 was bad......

HAH!!!! That's just downright laughable..... Hope they serve KY with that winterization job!

Cripes, that's a reaming. I can only hope the NJ location of Riverside doesn't share their MD location's skill set (or utter lack thereof).

Personally, given the screw ups I've dealt with it's better to do it myself. At least then I won't have the stress of blaming someone else...

You can probably do everything but the outdrive servicing yourself. Don't forget to include pulling the batteries and storing them for the winter. I plan on bringing mine (all five of them) home and checking them monthly. I'm expecting to put a trickle charger on them sometime in January to avoid letting them go completely dead.

:shock: Glad I started small

I don't know if they're nickel & diming you, or if they just itemize every expense that they know of, rather than including it in the service fee.

- Mildew Control Bag $36.30
- Damp Away $41.94

I could be wrong, but wouldn't mildew control and damp away be the same thing? I bought 2 containers (refillable) for $6.

It may pay to hook up with someone that knows what they're doing and show you the ropes. I guess labor is a little higher out east.

I would do it myself. or how much does it cost to store in a heated storage. Might be cheaper than the winterizing. But look throught your manual mine tells me how to winterize it myself.

Is it too late for me to come up and winterize it? I will do it for $1000.00 plus materials, that's a bargain! :)

Hi Brett. Had I known you were so close to me, and more importantly that you were available, I would definitely have hired you for the job. $1000 is definitely a bargain compared to what I'm paying. Plus you probably would have done a better job than I may get from the marina.

Unfortunately, I handed over my keys to the marina and signed the winterizing/storage contract last week :(. Oh well, there's always next year :). Lesson learned.
