My brother is in the market for a boat - so we'll probably be there Friday too.

I didn't make it, as the last few years the boat show has been a huge disapointment. Unless your into fishing or ski/wakeboard boats.....

What was your take on this years show, same as usual?

Yup, pretty much the same old. We did make a deal with Sharp's Tarps to get a new cover made as soon as we break storage.
Boat prices were higher than I have ever seen. Makes me like mine more!

It basically confirmed that I'll never buy a new boat. Those prices are crazy! There are some new niceties, but nothing worth making a move. There were LOTS of fishing/hunting/sportsman boats in many formats. Pretty good wakeboard/surf representation. Fewer standard I/O. A couple of jets. One cruiser (that I saw, anyway).

I really wish we could have a "reality check" on prices. I've got some interest in moving to a wake boat, but not for double the price of an I/O. Then again, I love a heavy deep-V in rough waters. So, maybe I'll just stay put.

We thought the show in SLC was horrible. No big boats. High cost. All leaning to the ski industry, and horrible prices. My old one looks better every day. Doubt I'll even go next year.

That is how I have felt for almost ten years now.....

Me too. But being boat crazy (Owner for 44 years now. Different boats) It took me 10 years longer to admit it. Even our kids said the same thing.

I agree, but same applies to trucks, campers and utility vehicles. ... 15k for a 4x4 Mule, 75k for a king ranch dually and you are in the 40k range for any half ton 4x4 on the market. A rigged nice bay boat is 50k plus unless you go over 21' and add a $ 1,000 per freaking inch.
