I'm not going to speculate, as I have no knowledge of this, but I highly doubt it is an outboard...if that is what you are referring to dw. If I were to speculate, I would guess jet, new i/o or a v-drive setup. 22' watersports boat at a "very affordable" price point with a "revolutionary" propulsion system just doesn't seem to add up to me. |

Chaparral on their facebook site just posted a video of a jet drive boat with a surf wedge and ballast system. It actually works quite well. I'm impressed. I will be at the show. I'm trying to book a hotel but the prices are $500+ for Saturday night. I'm not on good terms with the ex wife right now so no crashing with her (she lives 15 mins away from the show). My other friend she has no room I asked too late. I'll figure something out I'm sure, In fact I'm pretty sure if I wait to call my ex around 1am when she's drunk she'll want me to stay the night. Worked last time. |

How can a jet drive work well for wakeboarding? Even if you can somehow design the hull/drive combo to produce a decent wake for jumping/tricks, it will not solve a good wakeboarder's ability to drag the ass end of a jet drive propelled boat all over the place with the kind of edge and resistance one must generate to pull off any decent tricks. It might work nicely for non-slalom skiing, tubing, and surfing. Otherwise, yawn on the jet drive. |

With factory ballast it produces a 3ft wave to surf on. It's shallow faced and not steep, but for most kids and hobbyist that's plenty. It doesn't compare to anything any modern v-drive boat can produce, but hey it's better than nothing. Considering the CHEAPEST of the cheap new v-drive surf boats cost $50k (moomba outback v), a jet boat that would be okay for most people that don't take the sport serious enough to buy a dedicated boat. |

Do you realize how much Chaparral is trying to get for their jet boats? Just read through the latest Boating mag and they tested the Chaparral 243 VRX. As tested price $69,148. Unless that is a typo... ....I just checked the Chap website...yup...starting price with the small engines is $60k. With options $69k is pretty easy. They list a Aerial Surf Platform in the options for $2995...I'm pretty sure that is what is in their video. It will be interesting to see what Four Winns and Volvo Penta have. |

Well that's retarded. Let's compare 22ft boats. It's $62,000 for a stupid Chaparral jet boat that can kinda surf and not wakeboard. OR. You can buy a Moomba Outback V that is a bad ass inboard powered wakesurf and wakeboard boat fully optioned for $52,000. Am I missing something here? How does less cost more? |

The reason I chose the H210 was the all round use in water sports, runabout and reasonable price. Its not the best wake boat but you gain in the ride and it will take much rougher water than the wake boats. If they put in a V Drive in the same platform it would definetly increase the water sports side of things. For those who think the bowrider is scary in rough water, try riding in a low profile wake boat. The moombas and other similar boats will make you sterile in rough chop. Some models are known to submarine....plus the myriad of pumps, hoses and ballast bags are known to be a maintenance nightmare. If the new model steps up the game with V drive FW would will appeal to a good portion of the wake boat market. At least those who aren't into serious boarding, |

However - it's been my experience that most wakeboarders do not like to wakeboard when there is chop. But who knows - maybe they are in cahoots with one of the leaders in knee and hip replacement surgery. |

Imagine being able to order a standard boat (horizon, sundowner, etc) with the option of sterndrive or v-drive?!?! I would never own a stern drive again. |

As far as choppy water and boarding....we go when we can go, chop or not. Besides you normally have to travel across lake to get to a cove to board. At least around here. It just depends what the wind is doing on which cove and how far you got to go. Nothing will beat the true wake boat for boarding, but I'm with Ric on this one. Given the Vdrive option on my boat I would take it all day long over the stern drive. I don't beach my boat so increased water depth wouldn't bother me one bit. |
