I found a good deal on a couple of new propellers for my boat, but the person selling them is unsure how much it will cost to ship and what will be the best rate. Going from Sacramento to Las Vegas...any suggestions? Thanks, C |

Step one: Cut a hole in the box Step two: Put your junk in the box Step three: Make her open the box --------------------- Under $20 bucks. |

I ordered an aluminum prop through Amazon a couple of years ago. Shipping was about $13 from MN to MI. |

LVChris wrote: I was really hoping for something like..."I shipped a prop once, it weighed 10 lbs and cost $15 to ship." Well how much does it cost to ship a 10 pound object? It doesn't matter if it's a prop or a bag of underwear. Shipping companies charge by weight and container volume. Including the box you can ship a single prop across the USA for under $20 bucks. If you know the box size and weight you'll know how much it costs to ship exactly. Other than that? Price will vary depending on how it was packed and container size used. If I were to ship a prop, I'd charge someone $20 flat rate to CONUS which would include very good packaging, tracking, insurance, and signature delivery. |

Chris what kind of props are you getting? The reason I ask is because my buddy just picked up some new props from Gerry and seemed to be a good deal. Being in town it might save you some money. BTW Ric good one! |

Ok So I got the props...ready to start experimenting. What else do I need? I know I need a prop wrench are the yellow floating ones ok? I have read that they break (or strip) easily. Also I read I need some kind of grease? Anything else I am missing? Hoping to pick up the wrench today, and try it out tomorrow. TIA, |

I have two prop wrenches, and my favorite is the big yellow plastic one. 50ft/lb of torque is what it requires (give or take). |

I got out yesterday and did the prop swap. The results surprised me...I was running a 15x17 stainless prop...swapped it for a 14 1/2 x 19 aluminum prop I expected a better hole-shot but less top end. The hole shot was horrible...took twice as long and lost top end as well as rpm's? Immediately went back to the dock and put on the 15x17 aluminum and went out...saw no real noticeable difference between this one and the stainless...so I have my prop...and I guess 2 spares now. So I wonder why the po had the stainless prop to begin with? On a boat this size and the relatively slow speed it runs normally (27mph) why the expense of a stainless? |
