Hey all I am looking to mount a smaller GPS/fishfinder combo on the boat, any recommendations or pics of any of yours? Also how hard are they to mount and install? |

I am a fan of lowrance. Plotter/fish finders are simple to install. |

I am going with a Lowrance that I seen at Bass Pro. I wanted to look at one in person and see how they each compared in person. I don't have the model # in front of me, but it was $299 on sale with either Lake Maps or Coastal Maps included. Seen same pricing on Amazon. If I find my notepad I'll add Model #. Maybe Elite 3 |

I bought a new Lowrance Mark 4 last winter. Now the HDI models are cheap as well, Here''s one $129 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lowrance-Mark-4-HDI-Chartplotter-Fishfinder-Broadband-Transducer-/201380999719?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ee33e3227 If you want a little new models the elites run about $100 more. Installation was easy. I mounted my transducer temporarily in the bilge but will move it next winter out onto the transom. Mounting the unit was easy as well - Buy a RAM mount, (About $40) and I mounted mine to the right of the Gauges after drilling a 1" hole thru the fiberglass. I then lined the hole with split loom to make it look better and not cause friction on the wires. I used the ram mount as it allows the unit to move around more, and it also fit there better. Let me know if you have any other questions. |
