Got a recall in the mail from Volvo Penta concearning carb issues on 5.0 GL. Possible fire issues with corrision of parts, warning of do not use till inspected and repaired at VP cost.

anyone else get one?

Will post details later.

:shock: Got mine this past week.

I will wait till they do the spring/summer service to have it checked.

It appears Holley had a problem with the carbs they supplied to Volvo.

Yep, I got this yesterday in the mail. Will check the date code on the carb myself before I go thru the heartache of hooking up and trailering to my dealer!

Yep - my carb date is 0126, so I have to go get it replaced. Called my dealer - he will order the carb and call me when it is in. Was not looking forward to towing it thru the traffic to them... :(

To find out where to look for the date code, check this link out...

Date code has 4 digits - the first 3 are the day of the year, the 4th digit is the year. So mine was 0126 which means day No 12 in 2006.

well.... looks like mine is one of the suspect carbs, took a look as per instructions (thanks Aussie_Horizon_190) and sure enough, buttoned everything up and headed to Phil Dill, the good news is that they anticapated the need and have plenty of carbs in stock, so should have back by next weekend.

Asked more and apparantly a plate or float is breaking down and clogging the float jet open - causing fuel to build up - overflow and then possible fire.

If it's typical, the speedo will be 2-4mph on the high side. Still, that's a darned respectable top speed!
