Hi all,

I have a 2015 H210 with a V8-300-C-B engine. Does anyone know what the nominal operating temperature and oil pressure are for this engine. Does the thermostat opening temperature indicate what the engine operating temperature should be? With regard to oil pressure, what is nominal, what is low and what is high? I looked through the VP owner's manual but did not see this data clearly listed. Any help appreciated!

It is odd that they leave out this critical info isn't it?
Temp if with a 160* stat should be between 160-175
Oil pressure 40-65 running, hot idle could be lower like 20-40. Volts 13.5/14.2.

I have only been out a couple of times and still in the 20-hour break-in period. The temp was steady at about 175 (hard to tell on the analogue dial), oil pressure was steady at about 60 running and 40 idling. Do not recall the voltage meter, will look closer next time. Now if the hour meter only worked on the tachometer I would be a happy camper. I learned that this is a common problem after some period of time but to not work right out of the factory is dismaying. I do enjoy the boat though. Messages sent to FW and VP.

The temp sounds fine as does the pressure. The temp may be a tad higher during break in. I would stay on the hour meter which helps with maintenance for sure.

One thing to keep in mind is that these gauges are not 100% accurate. Once in a while it is good to take a reading of the charging voltage of the batteries with a digital volt meter which is much more accurate than the dash gauge. You want to make sure they are being charged enough, but not over charging (like more than 14.7 volts or so). When my dash gauge said about 14, it was actually 15.5V which is too high. High resistance in the dash gauge wiring and in the sense wire circuit was the cause....

FYI, my thermostat is 150 so I need to look real closely at temps next time out. Op manual says pay close attention to oil use, too.
So much to learn...

I may be preaching to the choir here...but read breakin procedure. Avoid constant cruising speeds during the breakin. Varied speeds/rpms and avoid long idle times are best.

It will tend to use some oil until motor is broke in...I always check oil a couple times during the day of boating. Plus I like to look to make sure no leaks...water, fuel or oil. Maybe paranoid but makes me feel better.

Also, get used to using the blower...I run it before every start or when in no wake, slow speeds. When using in water sports I leave it on due to frequent restarts.

Nothing complicated, just get into safe routine is all.

Do newer engines run hotter now due to emissions (catalysts, oxygen sensors, etc)?

They absolutely do not. Slightly higher external manifold temps with Cat's, but well under USCG limits .
