Has anyone taken the '6-pack' exam? If so, you charter your boat for money? It is my deam to prepare myself in the coming years to charter for retirement. Am I just dreaming?

I take the CG exam on January 28th! I have been taking the courses for the last 2 weeks, and there is a ton of stuff to know, but it is coming together! There is a lot of ways to make use of a Captains license. You can charter your own boat but make sure you have the proper insurance; you can work part time or full time for a charter service. They are always looking for people. Here on the Hudson River and NY harbor there are many sightseeing tour boats as well as dinner cruises. Most of those jobs require a Masters, but that is not too hard to get, once you have the 6pack! I already have the required hours for the Masters, so I intend to upgrade the 6 pack to a MAster soon afterward. Some of the folks in our class just want to drive the Marina Launches, and many of the marinas require a Captains license for that. You can also hook up with a few Dealers and get on their list of Captains for delivery of new boats to customers. I, like you, am planning on using my Captains license as my early retierement source of extra $, not to mention that even without the $, I just love being out on the water! Go For It!!
