New to the marina life, should I leave my batteries on or off while connected to shore power?

You will need them on if you are on the boat as any 12 volt item such as fans, lights, etc.. will require.
When I leave the boat, I turn the batteries off, just to ensure that nothing is left on.

The bilge pumps are wired direct so they will still run if needed even with the battery switch off.

They should be, but I'd personally double check this!
