Piled up the lower unit gears in my 1995 Four Winns Sundowner 195 (F$&#). Being a 95 it is during the OMC/Volvo Penta venture. Searching up model and serial numbers of everything the drive is a Volvo Penta Cobra SX (with OMC Cobra (not King Cobra or Cobra SX labels)) paired up to a carbed Ford 302 (5.0L). A buddy of mine has a Volvo Penta SX drive from a 2007 Reinell 191 LSE paired up to a Chevy 4.3L. The boat was labelled a total loss due to being flooded out and he is willing to sell his drive to me if I can make it work with my boat. Does anybody know if these drives would be compatible to just swap them out (the entire leg, not just the lower unit) or would I need to do any additional work to make them pair together. Not sure if the Chevy to Ford drive shaft set-ups are similar or not.... Please help!
