Anyone see where Kidde is recalling a lot of their fire extinguishers? I bet the majority of boaters have these and I had two on my boat that met the recall. Very easy to go online to Kidde's website to check yours and order a free replacement. Need to check the house too.

I had three that were part of the recall, one of which was in the boat. They have to be one of the most common types out there.

Thanks for the heads up!

Tim

I had six recalled units. Two boat, two auto and two house. I called 855-271-0773 and got an agent immediately who took some info and said they would be replaced in 15-20 days. Saved a lot of paper work and there available seven days a week. All I needed was the number of units and there model numbers. They wern't concerned with dates or serial numbers. They got such a mess on there hands they probably are trying to be as quick as possible.

Thanks for the heads up! I have at least three on the boat. Frightening to think that they were only giving us a false sense of security.

Heard about this recall a few weeks ago. With the boat raised in the covered slip and winterized it was a bit awkward, but I scrambled onboard and retrieved my two extinguishers, one of which was a Kidde - not sure if it was original equipment or not. My boat is a 2005 model and the extinguisher was November 2003. Being located in Canada, the telephone agent checked her lists and could not find the model I had despite checking both country's lists. All was good.

Today I get a callback from Kidde, and further investigation found it was on an American list. Replacement being sent out within the week.

I'm glad they found it was on the recall list, and impressed they followed up and got back to me.

I received my replacements last Friday (approximately 2 weeks after applying).

I Received my replacements today - heavy duty units with twice the dry chemical capacity of the ones being replaced. Way to go Kidde! It's refreshing when a company stands behind their product.
