The marina where we have kept our boats for the last 18 years was completely destroyed by high winds and waves early March. It fell apart. Prolonged periods of F10 to F11 Easteries for days, followed by hours of F12 Easterlies overnight with high tides whipped up 2-3+ metre high waves in the harbour. 80 boats sunk, many of which have yet to be recovered. The marina is unlikely to be operational this year.

Strong Easterlies are very rare here. F10 and 11 from the East are almost unheard of. F12 from the E occurs maybe every 150 years or so ! ( 19th century, the "Royal Charter" carrying prospectors and their gold from Australia sank in one)

We were lucky; our boat was ashore. Most boats lost were larger boats lest on the water for the Winter.
We'll probably take the opportunity to do a load of jobs on our boat this Summer.

Oh man, can’t imagine the frustration for both groups of people. Losing your boat and everything in it, would be horrible, but could use the opportunity to upgrade

Then the people like you, who is fortunate enough to have your boat safe on shore for the winter, but can’t use it..... I would Be dying, trying to find another place, buy a trailer do something, not to lose a summer.

Wow that reminds me of what happened on the south shore of Long Island during Superstorm Sandy. On the north shore most marinas were ok with minor damage but on the south shore damage was bad with many boats strewn everywhere, in people's yards, on public roads even on the Long Island RR tracks going out to Long Beach. Bosts on trailers in marinas actually did worse in some cases due to the storm surge 10 feet and a lunar tide...bad combination....
