Post subject:  Question for Michigander's

I live in the Thumb of Michigan just two miles from Lake Huron so most of my boating is done on the "inland seas." My daughter lives in the center of the state south of Lansing (Eaton Rapids), and has asked that I bring the boat over sometime and take her and some of her friends out. Since I have no experience of the waters in that area, I wonder if any of you can recommend good places where I might put the boat in within an hour or so of that locale? It'll probably have to be on a weekend to accommodate her schedule so a place that doesn't fill up early would be best. One thing I love about the Great Lakes is the lack of crowds but I suspect the lakes in mid-Michigan can get pretty busy.

Thanks,
Tim

Thanks Clownfish....that all lines up with what I had been thinking. On my side of the state, Lake St.Clair or Erie catches the bulk of traffic from Detroit and suburbs although holiday weekends can be busy on Lake Huron. Being retired, I try to let the city-folk have the ramps on the weekend and do my boating during the week but with my daughter that isn't an option.
