Firecadet how does your Ram mileage compare to the F150 with 3.5 ecoboost?

'14 F150 with the 3.5 averaged 16.7 over the 8,300 miles I have on Fuelly (never towed)
'16 F150 with the 2.7 averaged 17.4 over 56,000 miles I have on Fuelly (about 4,000 miles towing)
'19 Ram with the 5.7 averaging 14.1 over 13,000 miles (was high 15s/16s before my wife started driving it daily - only 8 miles a day in town)

F150s definitely are more fuel efficient, but it's a twin turbo V6 vs a V8. All 3 were great trucks!

Thanks for the info. trying to figure out next move. At this point leaning towards a 2019 Ram Limited. There are some great deals going. If Dodge would extend there 0% financing beyond 36 months it would be in the driveway.

My son has a 2017 with 3.5 ecoboost with 10 speed trans & it gets some impressive mileage. Very nice truck - he has had more issues in 2 years than i have in 9.

Looked at Denali wiith 6.2 & 10 speed trans - pretty nice ride.

IMO GM is years behind. I moved from the '14 to the '16 to get the panoramic moonroof and the newer style. Big upgrade. That being said, that design is a 2015 MY with some tweaks.

The new Ram is amazing. Very happy with my Laramie. Not a fan of the 12" screen or I'd have ordered a Limited. It'll be nice to see Ford's response to it.

I understand about the issues - my Ram has been great. F150 had the door latch issue where the doors wouldn't operate in freezing conditions - but not all the time. PITA more than anything. And yes - deals are sweet now! I definitely paid a bit more to be first on the block.

Everything I look at I end up coming back to the Ram. Would be my 3 Ram in a row. Have loved the 1st 2 - still have both.
Really like the Laramie with sport hood package.
Only problem is finding one with limited slip rear end.
Dealer has a nice one on the lot but without limited slip.
When you go with the Limited they come with limited slip & air ride.
My brother has a 2014 with air ride & it rides awesome.
One thing i don't like about the limited is the automatic running boards.

I opted no air ride, set this truck up to keep long term with no issues although you can see my trend!

Order one - mine came in just after 4 weeks and you can negotiate a great deal still. I scored 3% under invoice, all rebates and a great price on my trade (3k more than Ford offered). Was driving by and saw it being rolled off the carrier. I ordered my 2016 and after that will never buy off the lot again. I have it delivered with minimal prep done, my 5 year old got to "unwrap" the Ram.

Ordering seems like it might be the way to go.
Would be nice to set it up the way i want.
How do you think the price was ordering vs buying off the lot?
you got me thinking now.
Could i still order a new truck now?

New trucks are nice, but I still don't trust anything with displacement on demand.

While I agree, no issues yet with the Ram. There is a way to disable the auto-start-stop on F150s which worked great on my 2.7. I won't keep this truck long enough to run into issues!

Bought some 5-gallon jerry cans to fill it up at home.

Going to the only e-free station is OK early in the AM, but it's a PITA after 9AM and I need two open pumps which sometimes requires waiting across the street and then rushing to the pump before someone else gets there.

Well worth the decrease in hassle. And still way cheaper than marina fuel!

If you are going to use cans make sure you have one of these. Work awesome. Have used for years & could not imagine life without.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing, I've never heard of that before.

Best $10 you can spend. Makes it super easy to use cans. You won't believe how easy it is. They have them everywhere. Ebay, Amazon etc

I was getting oil swap at dealership few weeks back on my 2013 Ram 1500 and visited with others waiting on their trucks. Both opted for the 2500 with 6.4 Hemi. They both gave mileage estimates close to my 5.7 BUT they got the lifetime unlimited mile full warranty. That's why they didnt opt for Cummins as it was only offered on big hemi. They have to get full check service at around 30k intervals but those are free....tempting

I only have 60k on mine so will drive til I can't anymore...nice having no note for a change and my oil service is only 15 dollars for life of truck.

The on demand displacement is a joke though...if going slow I feel it powered down until it has to kick into 8 firing....with speed limit up to 80 here its irrelevant. Drive 60 and you get blown off road around here.

Ordering a shaker siphon now after lots of swearing and spilled gas on Friday.

Boat ran real good. Had it out for lunch, did some swimming and fishing. Caught a nice small mouth bass. I put probably four hours or so on it. Had no problem hitting 50 MPH on the GPS with a full tank of gas, gear, and a 200 lb passenger. Stock aluminum prop.

Makes me wonder what a 5.7 with 320 HP would do in this thing.

The Dakota had a locked up front brake caliper on Friday. I think the hoses are shot. Going to replace hoses and calipers on the front end since I already took both brakes apart and lubed everything. Even after expediting shipping I came in about 50% less than one month's payment on a new Silverado, lol.

Last Sunday I went out to the boat and replaced a temp sensor on my outboard. Then tooled around Medina Lake for about 30 mins. Got a couple videos to show. Not many people out on the lake that morning so the water was nice. Temps were already about 94*

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-TyfyuvJuA : Full throttle run, but my speedo is off. GPS was reading right at 40 mph.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYn16ZJQYNk : This is entering Beacon Cove where we store our boat.
