My grandson and I applied 303 Fabric Guard to the Sunbrella boat cover on my 2006 H-240. We used a paint roller and large brush. For the cover and Bimini top it took almost a gallon. It has rained once and now water beads up and rolls off.

Painted the dang outdrive with anti fouling paint. You have to use both a brush and the spray to do a decent job. Man I hate that job (goggles, gloves, respirator and tyvec suit and it’s 90* out). Outboards after this one!

I actually like the FW HD 200 outboard. Nice boat same size as this but with outboard power. Probably go with Merc 150 4 stroke.

LOL I am sure my boat will last the rest of my life. I won't have to worry about it. Trailer boat.

I got a nice Four Winns Tee shirt. I hunter one up and ordered it.

FW had one of those at the Javits Center. I think it was an HD220 though. Super nice boat.

My uncle has a Merc 4 stroke on his boat and you can't even tell it is on sometimes.

Finally got to use it today.

Got to talking to the guy next to me at the ramp with an 88 Sundowner. Said he had it since new and hasn’t had any issues with it. Aside from some dock rash it looked pretty good for an 88!

Not sure why this site only allows tiny images...

Hey that one has the same exact color scheme mine had before we had it painted, grey above the rub rail and burgundy below. I had it painted in red Imron about 8 years ago, the gelcoat was beyond buffing. And all I've done is wash it! If it keep the boat eventually I will upgrade the old bow and cockpit covers to red, they are getting are getting pretty old looking (had them made in 2003). I probably should have kept it burgundy but the red just looks so much better!

I’m with you, I like the bright red. That dark red with the gray does look nice though - a bit more incognito. With the bright red and white, your friends won’t have any issues finding your boat on the water lol.

Is the imron more like car paint? Gel coat is annoying in that it seems to absorb and stain pretty easily. My boat doesn’t even stay in the water for more than a few hours yet I still get that brown staining on the white part of the gel. The red also oxidizes easily even though I keep it indoors and waxed/polished.

Imron is a super durable paint that was developed for airplanes, tractor trailers etc and there is a marine line of it for boats. It is extremely toxic to spray so only for professionals. Does not stain easily like gelcoat and does not fade. BUT, will scratch and chip just like any paint. It can be touched up more easily than other marine paints. When we had the boat done people though we bought a new boat, pretty funny!
This is only worth doing if you have a colored gelcoat and its faded and oxidized to the point where it takes constant maintenance to look decent. If you gel is not oxidized then gel can actually be more durable being thicker than paint, it just does not hold color as well. But any boat I get after this one has to be white. Colored boat, paint is the way to go esp if you can't store inside.

That looks really good. Is that a factory FW color? Looks almost identical to my 06.

Thanks it’s just a Stock color from the Imron color chart.

Showed it to a buyer who backed out because of the sunsport seating. Said there was "no room in the boat." Not sure what he was expecting in a 20' runabout.

Gotta love "know it alls" when showing your boat. This guy insisted that Four Winns makes the best trailers and that my tandem galvanized/aluminum setup was "overkill." Maybe, but have fun towing a 3,070lb. boat (dry) 3+ hours in the mountains with a painted single axle and drum brakes. He had a 93 190 and said his boat had more room in it. lol

Every time I launch this boat I get compliments on it. I can load the boat with one hand and stay dry in the process. Even if there's a current, the trailer is setup perfectly and the boat never comes out crooked. Some people just don't get it I guess.

Anyway, I took the boat for a spin for a few hours by myself. I decided to keep it as this was the most relaxed I've been in a while. Also had nearly the entire lake to myself.

I helped a guy with his Chaparral at the end of the day. He had to keep backing in 3 or 4 times before he got that thing straight on the trailer. He forgot his drain plug wrench, so I lent him mine. It felt good to help someone without 10+ other people waiting at the ramp behind you.

+1 on the know it alls. Once you start acting like that, I end the showing then and there. My boats are clean and are sold as such. While selling my 225, had a "buyer" who drove 5 hours to see it, started to say it was all scratch up (couldn't point out a scratch to me), so I said thanks but no thanks. Didn't even take off the cockpit cover and I left! Not wasting my time with tire kickers or those who want to lowball on a great boat. Had a similar experience with my 240...starting to say it's small for the price, etc. Good luck finding a better boat for this price, pal!

Thankfully, no such drama while selling my 318 (surprisingly!)

You've got a gem in that 200...keep it! They don't make them like that anymore...and after this year with all the "new" boaters, I'm certain clean, used boats will be VERY hard to come by going forward.

if I had that boat in your fresh water environment Id probably keep it as well....
why were you thinking of selling?
want something newer? or getting out of the hobby?
less maintenance of an outboard?

I’m at that point in my career where I need to change jobs to advance, both in title and salary.

Most of these jobs are not near any lakes, and unfortunately don’t offer the option to telecommute. I don’t mind trailering but most apartments don’t have indoor storage for a boat and a car. Although some places I’ve looked at had detached storage buildings.
