Winterized it today, changed the oil and filter etc. 55 degree day, getting colder next few days, dropping to mid 30s at night. I do not like doing this job on a cold windy Nov day, today it was nice and sunny made the whole job more pleasant. After draining filled engine + manifolds up with my mix of 50/50 Sierra PG antifreeze.

May Spring get spring quick...and....for those of us who where neck deep in work this year, my next year have more free time to boat.

I've changed oil, impeller, fuel pump, drive fluid, winterized and replaced speakers. Ready to enjoy it

Over the past two weeks:

1. Floor jack broke while doing trailer maintenance. Ordered new floor jack.
2. Grease cartridges I ordered were the wrong size. Whoever decided to make mini cartridges should be fined.
3. Grease gun broke. Kept losing pressure and shooting grease all over the place. Took two hours to grease four hubs.
4. Due to # 3, I got grease all over my clothes, on the boat, etc. Made a huge mess (but at least the hubs have fresh grease!)
5. Rustproofed trailer, engine, and gimbal housing.

LOL I hear you. I ordered grease it got here. I had to go find a gun to fit it. I am tickled with the new carport boathouse seal. I been making doors on it. Nylon rope ties on the tarps for easy access.

I am building my prop selection up. I got a 19 SS coming. I gonna get another 21 SS in the spring. Be a total of 5 I will have.

Misterful02 does the Volvo steering actuator have a grease fitting on it like the OMC Cobra one does? It’s not easy to get at I can tell u that! I’m going to try to find marine grease for my mini grease gun to make it easier to get back there.

Finally put the winter cover on. We rarely get snow before Christmas but I hate doing jobs like this in the cold. 57 degrees today in Long Island NY. I built a support frame some years back and rather do this than shrink wrap, its much cheaper over time and allows me to open it up to charge the batteries or do work on it if weather permits.

There is this years version of winter protection. We had 50 MPH winds and rain a couple days ago. Not a drop of water got on the boat. I think she is ready for snow. I put lights in the ceiling so I can uncover it and play in there with the heater if need be.

Nice to be able to work on stuff in the off season. Looks like you have a nice metal roof to hold up to snow.

Thank you. Yes that was why I got it. Last winter I had the tent deal. I had to not sleep when it snowed so I could go out and knock it off of it.

Why I remember not to long ago a newby got a boat and was going to let it sit out there just with its cover. I started gutting it. I got it all out and was putting wood in. It is real dusty after grinding.

I looked in after one rain and saw water. That was it. it has been under some kind of roof every since. I thought if letting it get wet did all this damage It isnt getting wet at least when it isnt getting used. I am lightening up a little water getting in from swimming or fishing is okay.

But just running in from rain isnt okay. Try to keep it down to a low roar the un necessary water. It has been raining 3 days and it is dry not even damp feeling.

I have a Taylor Made custom cover and I built a support frame for it with wood ridge beams, pvc supports and fiberglass cross bows. Holds up to snow pretty well. And saves money cause I don’t shrink wrap each year. I got the idea for the support frame from looking at big boats getting shrink wrapped and also Fisher custom covers that use wood to support the cover. I think I’ve saved $2500-$3000 over the years doing it this way and not shrink wrapping.

the bows are held in place by retainers that are screwed into 2 pieces of plywood I attached to the sides of the windshield frame just for use with this cover. Used holes already drilled in the frame.

I've added a few more supports to it since these photos were taken like a ridge beam for the bow area, etc. It takes about 45 min to set up and then I drag the cover over it.

The Fisher covers seem to be the best, but this has worked for this old boat. With this set up I can open it up and charge the batteries and air it out on nice crisp dry winter days. In the spring when I take it off its usually dry inside.

That looks nice. My buddies last bayliner had a set up like that.

I bought a cover support system for mine. Pole and strap set up keep water from pooling. For rain it works real well.

I know one thing we are not to the worst of winter. It is my first full year of boating. I know I sure will be ready by the time it is warm. Killin me already.

We got a little flurry today but it has snowed twice this year already.

I was out there today feeling her up. I told my wife I gonna uncover her and put a heater in so I can sit in her.

River is way way up. it is going to that part of the year. In the spring first couple months your out at flood stage LOL.
