Will be single this year, sad story for another time. Will be cutting back on many things anyway, but the boating fund will be a mainstay at all other costs.

I work with a guy who pulls his $65K Nautique with a $2,500 Suburban.

Actually hope to be using the boat more this year, if I only burn the same amount of gas that I did last year, I'll be disappointed.

That's not to say that I won't be doing everything I can to make the overall cost of gas as low as possible, filling from gas stations rather than marinas. Using cash back gas cards, the occasional hauling of jerry cans down to the dock, etc. I just won't be limiting use of the boat more than free time allows.

We will be hopefully using the boat more next year. The wife was a bit down on it last year. It was mostly myself and my son. Oh the looks he got putting Mental Floss on the trailer. Most couldn't believe an 11 yr old could handle the boat so well. We will be looking for ways to save and economize the trips. Like our trips to Caladesi Island. Normally we would run across Tampa Bay which made it a 60 mile trip one way. Now we will be pulling it across the bay and cutting the trip to about 30 miles one way. That just means two trips per tank instead of one :D I also just finished the genset maintenance last weekend. New plugs, impeller, oil and filter so some anchoring out is in order... a bit of cash saved on marinas. It's hard to believe we brought Mental Floss home almost 5 yrs ago... man time flies!

With a brand new V358 to be delivered next week we are planning on several longer trips this year. Jersey shore to the Hamptons being one of them.

About the same for us. We don't do a lot of towing watersports yet so we usually sit anchored somewhere. Probably a good thing this summer.

As much as possible. Now that I've paid for the launch for the season, I'll save at least $75 on launch fees (about 3/4 tank)

With the purchase of the new V248 we plan on doing more boating than last year. In the past we cruised out of our home port in Clinton Connecticut to ports all over Long Island Sound, Block Island RI and as far as Newport RI. This year we have relocated our home port to Mystic CT. which will help with our overall gas usage. We found that we spent most of our time in the waters near the RI/CT boarder. Moving our slip removed roughly 2-1/2 to 4 hours from our journey (each way); that is based on sea conditions.

When you really think about it gas prices is not the determining factor in owning a boat. Once you add in the initial cost, insurance, registration, taxes, slip fees, upkeep, storage, launching, removing, winterizing, transient slip cost etc. the fuel is really just a small part of the total cost. I may fill differently if we had a large cruiser with twin screws.

Trying so hard not to let it get me down, gas prices that is. Just fill it when it's low on fuel and try not to let conserving fuel enter into my thought process. If it comes down to it, we'll start eliminating eating out as much or something, but not boating. It's very frustrating to finally have my first boat and then gas goes through the roof. It's not staying in storage and on the trailer, damn it.

My boating life would not change due to gas price. I would go out more since there would be less traffic in water... That is good and bad.

Wheres the checkbox that reads "Bring the cannon to bear!, I plan to use as much gas as I did last year. Life is too short; but I will still ponder as to where exactly 40% + of my earnings & 25% in hidden cost in the goods we purchase & the 13% fee for the privalege purchasing those goods is going - and why exactly do I have to pay +30% for the same goods than they do in the US ?"
Must be the world class social services, amazing buisness sector and heavenly 2 months of summer we have here. :roll:
