I unwrapped our boat on sunday, as I removed the wood frame i noticed the rear support that sits in the middle of the sun deck had a piece of cardboard under it to protect the vinyl from the wood. The cardboard however turned teh brown vinyl a milk white where the carboard was. Any idea if this will go away or do I need a new sundeck form the shrink wrap installer?

Try Soft Scrub with bleach and a Magic Eraser.

Would magic eraser also work for a stain on my seat vinyl?
I placed a fishing pole along the starboard side window and the end of the rubber grip was touching the top of the rear seat back and left an ugly blackish / brown stain.

Let the sun hit for a couple days if that doesn't work, try the soft scrub, if that doesn't do it use mineral spirits.
Follow that by a UV protectant and your good to go.

Thanks for the advice guys, quick follow up question, the cardboard did not actually stain it there was nothing left behind on the surface of the vinyl, the vinyl has actually changed color like it was bleached. Same advice gang? The only thing I have ever seen change like this then change back is linolium. You move a couch and the floor is differant color after a few days it evens out....

Could always spray paint it flat black - makes for easy touch ups I hear . . .
I know, not very helpful or constructive . . .

Dave,

I have an off white vinyl and had stains magically appear last month. I was basically given the instructions which I passed on to you. All of the new stain last month went away in a couple days in the sun. Another stain that was on the boat that came from the original owner would not come off with anything. Softscrub cleaned up the vinyl but it was the mineral spirits that did the trick.

I've had good luck with a chamois that's been slightly wetted. Even lifted a six month old ink stain once.

8edit - oh yeah, as a last resort, there are spray on vinyl paints the auto restoration folks use. They come in many different colors and custom colors are available too. I've used them on pontoon seats that were badly faded and stained by mildew (long before I bought the boat). After careful application of a couple coats, they looked practically new again. Here's a link: http://worlduph.com/semdye.htm#Info.

Believe it or not I have also sucessfully used 3M Cleaner or Restorer and Wax to get some stubborn stains out of my seats. Its a last resort, but the mild abrasive in it seems to work very well. I then use the 303 protectant afterwards to protect the seats again. But as others have said, I'd let the sun hit it and see if it fades away.
