So I bought an amp and sub off craigslist about a month ago. When I met the guy he was real cool, we talked for about 30 minutes about different stuff and he told me over and over that everything was good. Me being nice and naive took this guy's word for it. What do you know, wehn I go to install it today, the amp is fried. I am livid, I call and he answers the first time but when he realizes it is me, he hangs up and doesnt answer any more of my phone calls. So I start texting him some of the filthiest comments I have ever heard of...I felt pretty disgusted by some of the things I was saying to this guy, but I wanted to make sure he knew he was the scum of the earth.

So now I have another plan...

I found a nifty little internet program that will automatically call his phone over and over again a grand total of 500 pick-ups...all hours of the night. He will have to change his number before Im through with him. Oh and I've got his email address, so I've spent the last couple hours punching it into as many porn sites as I could find. Im sure his inbox should be great tomorrow

So you guys think I'm going overboard?? I'll admit I got taken, but I'm not one to just bend over and take it. I hate dishonest people more than anything in the world. Anyone have some more ideas how to get back at him? Oh in case any of you would like to call or send him a few fun messages he can be reached at 469-286-6865 or by email at txdboy@gmail.com

OUTSTANDING!!!!

Ofcourse your talking to a guy who wrote a half of page on a scorecard at a top ten resort golf club last week telling members of the club they just hurry up and die as to stop ruining the game for the rest of us and tee'd it into the teebox before they got there.

Hey post the name of that phone program for me.

You can also pm me the websites............as I better check them out before signing anybody up.....you know.....just to be sure what I'm doing.

Oh also emailing him a few thoughts for you as well.

Small claims court? Assuming that is that he misrepresented the condition of the product. Probably won't show anyway to even mount a defense and you'll end up with a default judgment. Then the fun begins in trying to collect. You can garnish wages, have property seized and sold, garnish bank accounts etc.

I was successful getting $750 from a guy who decided his POS shit pickup needed to parked on the bumer of my old Mustang Cobra. After getting a default judgmet I threatened to garnish his wages. I guess he didn't want his employer to know he was a dead beat so he sent me a check. He couldn't understand how I tracked him down but I have my ways . . . ;)

Small claims court...I dont want to deal with that, In fact I dont really care so much about the money. I just want him to suffer for being a low life piece of $hit

Can you share your ways of tracking people down...I'd love to show up at his doorstep one day

Well, I pretty much have a private investigator on speed dial for my line of work. Surveillance of plaintiff's, back ground checks etc. I can dial in a favor if need be since I keep him busy. Sorry, I can't be of more help.

OK OK,

Ann Landers used to say this all the time. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And then there is Caveat Emptor, let the buyer be ware.

Craigslist is essentially a 21st century garage sale/flea market. You had to know that there was a great chance that the amp and accessories were going to be toast.

Yes, it stinks that you got suckered but when getting upset, you should direct some of it towards yourself.

I used to cashier at Home Depot part-time. A guy walks upto my register and says he wants me to check the value of a gift card for him. I do and it comes up zero. He says, that must be a mistake and I re-scan it for him...still zero. He says it can't be since he bought it off ebay for 500 bucks and it was supposed to be worth 1500 bucks. I say, what a home based business that would be if it were that easy to make money!

I am sure many of you will "flame" me for this but that is how I see it. I know it hurts, but what can you do? If the guy finds out who is doing the phone thing and the email blast, he could likely get an order of protection against you and you wont like that too much. He sounds like a scum and you don't sound much better seeking revenge like that. Let the universe, God, Allah or whomever, deal with this jokester, stop wasting your time and energy. He will get what he deserves, they usually do in the end!

Better Luck,

I'm absolutely not going to flame you, but simply tell you that your a better man than me. These communities while full of creeps have also had millions of sucessful transactions. So while you have the ability and inner strength to be able to let this go, I have done that for to many years. These dirt balls need to be reminded often that they are scum. Nothing thats been indicated up to this point will get him in any legal trouble and therefore while childish.........in my mind......fair game.

Again, not a flame, just a simple reminder that your the better man.

Caveat emptor, a saying originally from Latin... old enough to tell you it's not a new problem. Yet repeated enough to show it's still a problem because buyers WILL NOT LEARN. You made the mistake. Do not compound it by committing telephone harassment. Two wrongs do not make a right. If you don't feel like taking the time to file a small claims case then how will you feel about defending yourself from a harassment suit?

File the claim based on his misrepresenting the condition of the goods sold. It's an easy process. Small claims exists just for this sort of purpose. But do not make matters worse for yourself out of some misplaced sense of vengeance.

That said I'm with your on being torqued about it. I'd certainly entertain a few notions about making like difficult for the bastard. Just not ones that'd make me the bad guy.

+1 on what Bill said....

Think about it this way....what is more of a pain to deal with....

Answering a crank call or dealing with a small claims case.

I googled the number you provided and saw that he put both items is working condition on the CL. I think you have a legitimate chance at getting something back.

Total drag Paradise - the sub in the pic that you posted looked freaking crazy! Hope you at least get that out of it - though there probably won't be much water left in the lake if you crank it up.
I am with you on the recourse but I always feel bad if I carry it out. It's a moral dilemma I always struggle with when a situation like this arises - you know the satisfaction vs. succoming to thier level thing. Admittedly if the offense is bad enough I usually choose the satisfaction path. Love your approach and untill you play the return policy card Brent mentioned I doubt there is anything anyone can do about it :D
I am not sure that I completely agree with BetterLuck though in some respects I guess he is right - True, the argument can be made that it is foolish to trust and you should expect to get ripped off but is that the scociety we want? When I sell off my crap I disclose everything - good points and bad and adjust my price accordingly or have it properly repaired before I sell. I just feel that everyone else should feel compelled to do so as well. Guess that makes me foolish as well.
