I must be getting old - I'd never let anyone sit on the sun pad while the boat is underway.

First, awesome pics Brent. Is that a typical weekend gathering on the lake?

I don't think it's age Jim. As fun as it looks, if your lake is heavily patrolled, it's a quick ticket since it's illegal (at least in WI). I had an up close lesson with that law after receiving a ticket for sitting on the back of my seat while underway. I eventually got out of the ticket, but it would have been a $186 fine.

Its not standing up, you have to have so many inches of gunwale, rail or lifeline around you while underway.

I wasn't just thinking about fines, although I did see some get levied this Holiday weekend, I was thinking about some of the chop I hit. I'd sure hate for those those ladies to make an abrupt departure. Does look like fun though.

Great pix,

Just glad I'm not there.. I MUST be the most fuddy duddy 32 year old around, because that's not my idea of fun.. A desolate cove with just "MY" friends is fun... Too much booze there and too many phalic extensions capeable of 100+ MPH.

Thanks for sharing the photos, hope you had a great time!

I asked for clarification on that one and standing up is fully leagal, but since I was kneeling on my seat and my rear was touching the back of my seat, I was told I was technically riding on the seatback (although quite a stretch).

My signature photo has me riding in a similar position

Interesting, I take it that sitting on the bolster seats would be about the same thing. You must have had one bored frog cop to bother you about that.

Also the 224 has the rear facing seats. While they warn you not to sit in them during travel, when we were on the lake and my 4 and 6 year old nieces were tubing it was the perfect spot for dad to sit with life jacket on ready to jump in if they fell out or got scared. Also teaching new skiers I use a junior ski set that you actually hold the rope from the boat. I wonder if it's technically illegal to sit back there although were doing for the best safety of the kids.

Amazingly bolsters, or even adding cusions to raise seated height is ok - according to the Wisconsin Lake police that pulled me over a couple seasons back for sitting on the seat back. I didn't know that driving while standing is legal, I would have thought that would only be legal in boats with helms designed to be operated while standing.
