I'm debating on whether or not I should add one of these to my 225. I had one on my Sea Ray and used it a ton, but I did not have a battery switch on that boat. I've got a battery switch on this boat, and I leave it in the off position. So I'd have to climb up there anyways to turn it on, and then I'd be right next to the trim switch. Has anyone who has a battery switch added a transom mount tilt switch? |

My trim switch is wired independent of the battery switch. |

Your tilt switch on the shifter, or one you added on the transom? |

Why is your battery switch off ? |

It's in dry storage on the trailer, why leave it on? We left it on once and when we picked the boat up, the CO detector was beeping indicating a battery low condition. With the battery switch off the tilt is not powered. |

If the tilt switch on the shifter does not work when your battery switch is off, then some re-wiring would be necessary to run a transom tilt trim switch independent of the battery switch. I'd suggest that you look at your planned use of the transom tilt/trim switch - is it to be used mostly when loading and un-loading the boat from the trailer? Something like load the boat on the trailer, pull the boat out far enough to install the transom tie downs, use the transom tilt/trim to raise the drive, etc., etc. In this case your battery switch is likely to be on. I'm thinking that you turn off your battery switch when buttoning up the boat back at your storage location. |

I leave my batteries on even in storage, specifically so the transom switch remains operable. |
