Ok nothing to do with four winns but I hoping some of you guys that have had all kinds of boats can help me here. I have a 69 18hp evinrude that I am rebuilding. It’s been a bit stubborn about coming back to life. After replacing or rebuilding most of it carb, reed plate, fuel pump, magneto, plugs and so on. I am down to a defective fuel pump. Apparently the new one I put on is bad now. So my question is this. How much fuel pressure should I get between the pump and the bowl? The original pump makes 1 - 1.5 PSI but leaks back to the tank, the new one makes nothing but holds pressure fine. For some reason I think I need more like 5 PSI but can’t find any info to support that. I ordered another fuel pump but I don’t know (PSI) what I should be getting out of it.
