Ok I know I've discussed this as a pet peave but after a big cleaning project last night this issue has reached the status of a problem.

I don't know if this is an issue on the Horizon's but on the Funship there is a very nice drain located at the back of the boat. It's job is to obviously drain water from the cockpit out of the back of the boat.

The problem is they have it set to dang high. Before this drain actually works you have to almost have a standing inch of water in the back of the boat. Yesterday I removed the carpet and cleaned out the inside and had to get a wet vac to remove all the water because it had no where to go.

More inspection revealed that this drain was very professionally hooked up to a hose and drains directly from the transom, bypassing the bilge or drain plug. It looks very nice and if I was sinking would probably work great. But for casual water from people getting into the boat from the water or the weekly cleaning the water just sits there and keeps the carpet nice and wet.

Has anybody found a work around for this issue. I know on my 180 the water just ran into the engine compartment then the bilge took over if need be. Were never talking a lot of water and I'm tempted to drill a hole below the drain and run the water back into the bilge. Good? Bad? Better ideas?

Ok, I have a little more information on this. Hoping somebody has a better plan than what I'm thinking.

Took the boat out last night sans the carpet, which was hanging from a clothes line drying after washing it out.

With just three people getting on and off the boat I watched as a good inch plus of water sat in the rear bottom of the boat. It wouldn't drain as it takes a couple inches to reach the drain. I now understand why the carpet after just one day in a slip started to smell as bad as it did. It's not that the carpet holds water to long, the boat holds the water and just keeps the carpet saturated until you literally remove and hang up. Or find a 100 degree plus slope!

Any ideas?
