I'm looking to purchase 2 new tires for my trailer. The reason I need these tires is I destroyed my two they are cut on the side walls to the fiber cords not the metal cords. I found the same tires on overtons for 69.99. Does anyone think that is going to be the best deal or have advice where I could get them from? |

For now, most advise to go with Goodyear Marathons. There's some question as to whether their current quality is what it used to be, since they moved production to China about 3 years ago. But until a proven replacement emerges they're still probably the best bet. |

Ok so right now i'm running factory carlisle. Looks like i'm switching to goodyear. Just to give you a little more insight as to what happen, I arrived at my ramp for Aquapalooza and wanted to pull off to the left to unstrap the boat and load it up, without tying the ramp up. When I pulled off to the left I turned my rig back to the right and my trailer clipped another trailer. I busted their tail light and the flat spot the the light mounts to sliced my tires to the cords. I left a note for the owner with my name and number to replace the light and have not heard from him/her. |

FWIW: I just put 4 new tires on my trailer (Goodyear Marathon). First ones lasted 14 years before they finally rotted out. Walmart now carries them. $100/each plus tax. |

I'm not sure if our Walmart carries tires, but I'm in the market for a pair and interested in the best price anyone has found. We found the trailer with a flat tire Friday when going to pull out, so I'm going to replace the pair. |

I currently have Marathons in descent shape but wanted a spare. I bought a set of these with Loadstar tires. It seemed a descent price for new galvanized rims and two new tires. I haven't put a single mile on either one yet so have no idea how they ride. Got them from the same place. New Load Rite and Venture trailers come with the Load Star bias plys standard. |

I ended up finding GoodYear Marathons at Wally World for $85 each. Total replacement was $196 for balance, stem, mount, & disposal. By far the best price and the rare occurance that they had my size in stock. My other option was Denman tires, which would have been the same cost that I ended up paying for Marathons. I know much has been said about tires being made in China, but I noticed the new Marathon's are made in New Zealand (originals made in USA). Any opinions on this??? Also, out of curiosity, I hadn't previously heard anything good or bad about the Denmans. Has anyone else? |

Marathons and Carlisles are both junk. If you spend any time on other forums like I do, you will see all the threads "Another set of Marathons blew" happens all the time. Truck tires is where it's at... These trailer tires are all junk. If I had my way I'd have 17" rims with good LT's on them. |

Brett, I don't know a lot about trailer tires, and I'm far less experienced with trailers and pulling them long distances than many on this board are. I, too, have seen the several threads out there in cyberspace about Carlisles and Marathons. My '07 220H came with Carlisles and I'll likely ride them out as long as I can given the very short distance I trailer my boat between storage and the ramp. However, I do plan on taking some trips to other lakes in my state (and maybe Beaver Lake in Arkansas) over the next few years so I'm concerned about this somewhat. In those same places, I've seen discussions about why regular tires one would put on a car aren't used more regularly and don't hold up as well. Do you have a simplified view on this or a simple way of summarizing all this stuff that is out there? I thought I had seen somewhere that, even though some of those trailer tires are crappy, a regular tire is actually way worse to use. Would you mind clearing that one up for me, because I'm really confused as to why a light truck tire wouldn't work all that well. |
