What does everyone do to pass the time during the winter months?

I'm fortunate enough where I can visit my boat. The other day I pulled the cover off and sat in it for a while - this was actually kind of relaxing.

Anyone else ready for spring?

Dream about boating
Daydream about boating
Think about where I can take the boat
Think about what I can do on the boat
Think about who we want to take on the boat
Think about what I need to repair on the boat
Think about what replacement parts I need for the repairs on the boat
Think about what I can do to the boat
Think about what I can buy for the boat
Buy things for the boat
Research what else I need to buy to install the other things I bought for the boat
Think about what else I need to think aboutfor the boat.
Repeat thought process for tow vehicle, trailer, dinghy and motor, and other boating recreational equipment
Spend time with family
Think about and take dive vacation(s)
Maybe rent a boat while on vacation
Shovel or blow snow
Walk dog
Work

Go to the Nassau County (Long Island NY) boat show
Check out sales at West Marine
Every month or so open up the winter cover and charge the batteries

I made a model of my boat from scratch. Ordered a new engine for it. Put new seals in the outdrive. Ordered a gasket set and oil pump for the towmater. Got new four winns stickers for the trailer. New epoxy paint for the trailer. I will scuff and sand it as soon as the temps are right.

Bought a new fishing pole for the boy. Took apart oiled and put new fishing line in the other 7 I got. Got air mattresses for camping and made sure the electric pump was working. My boy and I are going to camp in a spot I know of from the boat.

I will buff the boat out to start the season and clean the interior basically detail it is what we call it when I do it to the chevelle.

I am so ready for spring.

Really amazing job on that model! Very few people have that kind of talent these days.

Seriously, that's incredible, especially since it's from scratch.

I am in the same situation. I think about boating all day long even when I am working. All the boating forums are pretty slow this time of year so it ain't easy to get my boat fix.
And I also sit in the boat and daydream during the winter. Shh don't tell my marina but I bring a little heater to take the edge off. Actually I am trying to dry it out, yeah that's it... hee hee

Very cool model, btw.

Thank you both.

I got a few videos I watch for my boating fix. Just my size boat out cruising round. I am starting this years events now. I got tubes for my tractor so the tires stay up. Put those on. Fix the valve cover gasket. Then on to maintenance on the Towmater/towing truck.

I use the tractor to move it around in the back yard so I can get it hitched to the truck easier. No way it would go around the corner from the boathouse to the driveway otherwise. I restored the boat and for a year I was wondering how am I gonna get this thing in and out once the time comes. I put a hitch on a 22 hp tractor it does tight turns real well.

Those little tractors can do more than you think they would. I have been doing the same thing for as long as I have had boats. They don't tear up the lawn as much as the truck.

60 more days for my splash... counting down...
How about you guys, what's your count down. I know you know... :-)

I already called. The woman remembered me from last year. She giggled because I was asking already. Her exact words were dock goes in aprilish. 2 conditions must be met. River is down from the rains and warm at the same time.

LOL I was out there this morning knocking ice off the boathouse and i am worried about missing a day on the river. It is a sickness I tell you.

A front hitch on your truck or SUV also works great for getting the trailer into tight spaces.

I faced a security camera towards my boat a few weeks ago.

Not only do I get notified if anyone goes near it, but I also get to look at it from my phone whenever I want to, haha.
