Post subject:  May sound like an odd Question...but I am curious

This may sound like a silly question, however, I have to ask it.

I am not new to boating, however, I now own my own H190 (Bowrider).

The question I have is in regards to facilities (specifically the head).
What I mean, is all the boats my folks have owned over the years, have always had toilet facilities.

Obviously, my “new to me” H190 does not.

With 2 younger kids (10 years old and 13 ), I am curious what you all do when Nature calls?

Obviously, "one" situation (no pun intended) is easier to deal with, that the other, however in the event you are out floating in the middle of the lake, or if you are anchored at your favorite swimming hole, what do you all do when you get asked that question. “Hey dad, I have to go to the washroom”.

Is there a portable toilet one could use (not a porti-potti, as I don't have much storage space), that is not that large, or do you always head directly to the closest port?

Just curious…as I sit here at work pondering the summer boating season while the snow gracefully falls out of the sky.

Thanks for reading

We learned real quick the closest marina's that have bathroom accommodations or not to venture too far from a launch site that had facilities. Where we normally boat there are a lot of places unless you venture really far away. It really depends on where you boat.

They also make curtain enclosures and they make a real rustic style potty, basically a seat that you attach to a bucket. That's probably the best option without getting a real porta potty.

Oh the fun of thinking of boating issues over the winter. :D

#1: I stand on the swim ladder and "inspect the prop for fishing line."
#2: I go WOT to the nearest restaurant or launch with a bathroom.

The lake we typically boat at is more of a reservoir and therefore does not have a lot of public access. In fact our ramp/storage facility only has a small building with a bucket filled with cat litter in it (there's a scoop to the side...)!
There is one marina that has a small restaurant with restrooms, but that gets a lot of traffic as it is one of only three public (for a fee) access points. Another is the State Park which is even worse.

Our rule: go before we leave the house!

What year and interior style is your 190 Horizon? I'd recommend finding some way for "more urgent" occasions. Also it might not hurt to figure out how shy the family members are, how willing or desperate they are to experience cold water, etc.

We did pack a porta-potty in our 190. It didn't get used often, but... We had the sunsport interior with two bucket seats and a bench. We stored it under the sundeck beside the engine.

Kinda reminds me of the old joke about a book titled "50 Miles to the Outhouse" written by Willy Makit, and the foreword written by Betty Dont.  8)

I got a convertible top on mine. And you guys got me shopping a portable toilet. I hope it never gets used but you know. Be nice if the urgent need arises.

You gotta what hold on let me get the top on.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Love the name of that thing. hee hee.
I would also recommend getting leak proof bags. It will make an easy cleanup, just toss it in neighbors trash. :D

There's a guy who sells them on e-bay, a bit cheaper than that site and with free shipping. Let me see if I can find the link.

Why not just carry one of these? Easy to maintain- empty into any toilet when you return...
