Well, I don't post much here anymore but... I MOVED!

I now live in Austin. Anyone round these parts? A jet ski on lake Travis is quite literally hell, so I'll FINALLY get back into a boat very soon.

I'm in San Antonio and we boat on either Canyon Lake (New Braunfels) or Medina Lake (West of SA). Lots of big boats on Lake Travis!

Welcome to TX!

I travel to Austin a lot for work. Haven't been on Travis yet but have cruised the Colorado River/lake Austin.

Welcome to Gods country...the only jetski traffic I've seen on travis and other chain lakes in the area are occasional runs. It's mostly boats... not much remote exploring areas as your used to I know.

You will need to check out canyon lake....water is best in texas and lake is around 150ish deep in the center. It's not a huge lake but there is party cove which gets busy in summer.

You may also enjoy tubing the river in new Braunfels. Lake LBJ isn't far from you but its subdued with long feeders. It's a laid back lake but is constant level.

Lake austin can get busy and used to have good lakeside bars and bands.

Dont be tempted by hippy hollow on lake travis. It's a topless area but its Woodstock. Literally same folks that went to Woodstock. Like looking at pairs of socks filled with sand...hard to unsee!!

I've been hearing a lot about Canyon lake, I'll check it out when it cools down below 110f

I've done a lot of photoshoots with models around hippy hollow. It's not THAT bad.

We'll be up at Canyon Lake (Potters Creek) on Labor Day weekend.

There are some good "free" boat ramps at Canyon and a few are along FM 306 on the north side of the lake (easiest to get to when coming from Austin). That weekend may have a lot of boat traffic, but there'll still be a ton of jet skis running around also. Main body of the lake gets choppy with heavy boat traffic, but there's lots of big coves that smooth out.

It only "feels like" 110*F here!

Well, sold the jet ski it was useless here and bought a SAIL BOAT!

1981 Columbia 8.7 in beautiful condition. Keeping it docked at Lake Travis Marina, I love sailing on Lake Travis and it's a perfect boat for partying in devil's cove. This will do for now but once this COVID stuff goes away, I really.. REALLY want to get into a Four Winns 248.

That's a big change! I like the Vista idea though. Good luck!

How are you liking Austin, Ric?

I love Austin! Never plan on living anywhere else in the foreseeable future.

Here's my toy for now.. kinda like it a lot. I've spent all winter restoring the interior. Re-did the entire bathroom and installed an electric head, very important feature for my lady friends. Almost done re-painting the exterior with interlux brightside cause I ain't about that gelcoat life in the Texas sun. Then I got the fun task of replacing all the crazed acrylic window lenses and installing a new front hatch. I plan to install a 11k btu marine a/c by spring as well.

If you've known me since I got my first Four Winns H180 in 2011, there's nothing I love more than taking an old boat and restoring it better than new.

Thanks! Still on the lookout to one day buy a Four Winns again. I've gained quite a lot of success here in Austin, I have my dreams set on a H440 in the next couple years. Ever since I walked around in one at the Miami boat show I've had my mind set that ONE DAY I'll own one!
