I went to the Nassau County boat show and looked at some of what F/W is selling now, the prices are off the charts, an H2 with outboard power was listed at $97,000! Meanwhile you can still buy boats from Nautic Star, Bayliner and others that are about the size for like half that price. I don't see the value yet the boats appear to be selling according to the list at the dealer's table. My favorite boat for our boating conditions was a Steiger Craft Miami 21 with a 200 hp outboard, listed at $115,000. |

If I ever find myself looking for a "new" boat, everything you just said makes me want to go track down a FW Coast Runner or find an old Penn Yan Explorer (saw one of those sitting on a broken-down trailer years ago, but couldn't convince the wife we needed it at the time)! |

For $50K I'll find the right Steiger Craft, they hold their value and are much safer in our boating environment than a lot of other mass market boats. I would not take my bow rider over to Connecticut but I'd take that Steiger as long as the weather was good. It's only about 10 miles across but it is Long Island Sound which can get nasty. |
