Well, this isn't boat related but given that many I/O's have the same system, I figured I'd put it out there anyway. This happened to me tonight on my truck... apparently it happens from being overtight(?) but it has been on for 2 years without a problem. In a boat, it could have been disaster. In the truck, I just pulled into the driveway and shut it off. In case there is any mystery, it's the hose clamp for the big coolant hose:

Yes excellent point, it's also a good idea, to pull up the inspection cover for the gas tank and check the fill hose clamps and the ones for the vent hose as well. I bet those don't get checked too often, out of sight out of mind! |

Pretty clearly that hose clamp was not SS. I'd guess not OEM either. So this could also serve as a reminder to make certain any replacement items on the boat are SS. |

I'm not sure I've ever seen one that wasn't stainless. But, they can have weak spots like anything else. |

To my eye it looks like there's significant rust 'bubbles' indicating plated clamps. Must be either cheap Tiawan stuff peddled as SS, or a misleading pic. |

I think you are seeing water/coolant droplets that were still on it when I took the picture. |
