I have a 224 funship with a pump out head. We only used the head a few times only (only water no solids or paper). When I took my boat out of the marina the pump out station was down and I am not sure what to do. Is it ok to pump it out with a drill pump and fill it up with winterizer? What do you suggest?
Thanks

I just had to deal with this today... I winterized the H240 and since the boat was out of the water, I didn't have a chance to pump out the last drop of "leftovers". Like you -- #1 only, no #2.

First off... there's no easy way to do it. On my head, you can split the whole thing in half. The top half comes off via a latch (mine was on the back and slid to the left) - then the main bowl/reservoir for the pumper came right off. I emptied out the water for the flush pumper. No big deal there - I consider that winterized.

Now the fun part. the leftover was the reservoir holding tank with the pump out lines running to a connector that is about 3 inches in diameter. I removed the 2 screws on the front of the unit that holds the head to the floor. Once I did that, I could twist the unit enough to get the pump out lines fitting to come off. Then I lifted out the reservoir... took them off the boat, and dumped them out in the back woods. Rinsed everything out really good, and reassembled.

Winterization done.

A couple notes - you may have gotten the "plug" for the pump out lines when you got your boat - if you did, then that makes the chance for spilling much less.

It's really not that bad. All in all, took me no more than 20 minutes once I figured out how to do it.

If there is not a lot of stuff in there, i would say less than 1/2 full just dump a gallon or 2 of -100 down there, it will be fine.
