For what it's worth, I've been using Craigs List instead of E-bay. I'm a little reluctant about purchasing/selling to individuals through the internet, but Craigs List is a cheap way to advertise, and has been very effective in selling all the small stuff I had from my last two cars up to and including my previous boat. |

I've bought and sold a lot on ebay, but sell very little nowadays. They have priced themselves beyond the point where you can make any money. A co-worker started a side business a few years ago selling race car parts on ebay. He got pretty big for awhile and was thinking of quitting his day job. Around that time ebay did another price increase. He has now stopped the whole business. |

E-bay has priced themselves out I too believe. Craigs list is localized & free if it's not commercial. I sold my ATV quickly ![]() ![]() |

Hi Gregg, I've sold a lot of different "stuff" on ebay. I have found that if it's fairly easy to ship it's far better to sell it on ebay than on craigs list especially if it's a fairly desirable item. You'll just get a lot more money for it. 3 years ago I sold an old basket-case aircraft engine on ebay. (A Continental A-65 in parts) most of the parts were there. I tried to sell it as a box of parts locally and would have taken $300-500 for all of it. I could not find anyone to even make me an offer! I boxed everything up and sold it all individually in separate auctions on ebay and ultimately got about $1800 for all of it. ("buyer pays shipping" on all of it too!!) If it's too big to ship or it's "hard" to ship you might try CL....but you'll get a far larger audience on ebay. Just make sure you take good, close up, in-focus pictures and describe the item accurately. Answer questions promptly too and you'll do fine. Regards, |

Agreed. Large items are best sold through Craigs list. Small items on ebay. I usually list the Manufacturer part number & MSRP. Good photos make a big difference as does a description that answers most of the obvious questions. |

Thanks I might try both C/L and Ebay I have some big items that I dont want to ship and some parts that are ok to ship, I do however have a price in mind for everything I have and wont take a dime less I just dont want to pay big fees foe parts that dont sell. I think Racing junk may be a good place for me to place an ad during this week econemy. Take Care Gregg ![]() ![]() |

Of course, your location make a big diff as well. I live in a "Town" of about 2 mil peep's, and don't have trouble with anyone stopping by to take a look. Someone in the sticks may prefer E-bay. |

Walt, Definately depends on the size/price of item. I used to live in the sticks, sold My Polaris Ranger to a guy 4 1/2 hrs away & my toy hauler to a guy 5 hrs away on Craigs List. The best part is, when they travel that far, they are buyers. |

I use Ebay to buy quite a lot, as its generally easier for buying products from US to Australia as a lot of Co's wont send direct to Oz. I just started selling recently and last month I sold a half cabin with O/Board for $27,000.00. Better than I expected and the guy travelled 500 miles to collect it. So Ebay works for me, no CL here. |
