Post subject:  Parts??

I have had a few parts on order for my boat that I ordered almost two months ago and still do not have any of them. Is it normal for them to take this long to get? If so I would call this piss poor customer service. I run a parts department for forklifts and if it took me two months to get parts I would be out of a job in a quick hurry. Or is my local dealer just being and idiot on ordering my stuff? I keep calling and they keep saying next week. Two months seems very extreme to me. Luckily it is winter now and not summer.

I think that depends on what the parts are.

If it's standard parts like for Volvo Penta - your dealer should have those pronto. THere's tons of manufacturers that use Volvo Penta - thus parts should be readily available.

If the parts are Four Winns specific, it could be that the parts are on backorder with the 3rd party supplier. It's obvious that Four Winns doesn't make all the parts for their boats...

If you know the part number, call Four Winns customer service and ask why this part isn't available.

Did you already pay for the part? If FW says the part is availabile - then your dealer is an idiot.

Well actually the parts are all for the trailer. Tounge jack, pin for the hitch, and a spare tire and mount. Now the tire and mount I can see taking a little bit, but a common part like the tounge jack and pin should be pretty simple I think?

Are these warranty issues?

Seems like you might just go to another dealer who can help you.

I can't imagine that a spare tire holder would be on backorder... let alone a pin or the toungue jack.

I would think your dealer is jerkin' ya around a bit. Call customer service at Four Winns with the part numbers and find out!

Just a note, several trailer manufacturers have shut down and or suspended operations over the last several months due to slow sales and the economy woes. Eagle trailers and Shorelander come to mind. Not sure if supplier to FW/Dealer could be causing the delay or not.

Well I called again today and still no parts and they are blaming it on the factory being so far behind which seems weird is sales of boats have been slow?

Four Winns TRY to make thier own trailers. 90% of the parts on these trailers are Fulton parts and can be picked up at your local Wal-Mart. I think your dealer is BS'ng you.

I have looked around to try and source the parts locally, but no one has what I need.

Are you talking about a tongue pivot pin? Tractor Supply has those, and possibly a hardware store. What happened to your tongue jack? Personally if I were replacing that I would get a better one than the original. A rolled up piece of tin foil would be an improvement.

Maybe the 2007 trailers are different, but the problem I've found with the tongue jack is that FW makes a slot built into the trailer to mount it to, I've had trouble finding one that would use the original location. I thought the only way to get one to fit would be to order through FW.

I cringe anytime I move the trailer by putting pressure on the tongue jack. I'm surprised one would be bad so soon though.

Need the pin that you use for backing up and locking the hitch on to your truck. I looked every where as it looks simple enough, but couldn't find it. The tounge jack is bent and does not swivel or go up and down very easy. Boat was this way when I bought it. Yes the jack does use a special mounting bracket on my trailer so a regular Fleet Farm jack won't work with out some fabrication which is what I did on my last boat.

Oh and an update. I called Four Winns Direct and they said they have all the parts on hand and show no orders from the dealer I ordered them from. So in other words the dealer never ordered them. I am giving them one more chance as now they are telling me they will be here this week. If they don't show up I will go to another dealer and report this to Four Winns customer service.
