Anyone in the Minneapolis area that can tell me what the boating is like there?
Is there any good websites to visit about the area.
Is it lake boating or river boating or both? I cant trailer so I would be looking for a good place to leave it

Any help would be appreciated. Considering relocating there and the boat is one of the top decision makers besides the obvious

Thanks,

Jeff

I seem to recall a larger lake when I was there a while back -- Minnetonka or something like that?

Otherwise, you are probably a couple hours away from one of the Great Lakes. A brief looks at Live Maps shows about 150 miles from Duluth (Lake Superior) and about 275 miles from Green Bay (Lake Michigan).

Weekend boating!

The land of 10,000 lakes, I would think there would be some awesome boating.... once it warms up :) . In fact boating is kind of a common language or something isnt it? My only experience is flying into and outof Minni.....

Hey Jeff I was born and raised in Minnesota the boating is great anywhere in the state. I grew with a family summer lake home in North central Minnesota on a chain of lakes called the Whitefish chain. There is 13 lakes in the chain and you can boat all day and not cover half of them. If you can not trailer a boat and you are near the twin cities Minnetonka as Cougar said is a great lake. Lots of dock slips for lease lots of spots on the lake to hang out and it is the place to be in the summer. I slipped a boat there for a summer before moving to Florida. The St Croix river is also a nice boating area all though I was never much of a river rat.
Good luck it is just about a no brainer to find a fun spot to boat, it just sucks that the boating season is so short.

boating on the stcroix is awsome, easy to get to the mississippi too. so a search for scuttlebutt magazine, they publish every month in the summer and list all activities for each weekend, there is always some town that is having a festival.
