As suggested by "Beyond the Blue".....

Post your Google Earth coordinates so we can see where you boat!

Get your coordinates at the lower left corner of the Google Earth screen.

Copy your coordinates here. NOTE - write them exactly as I did, below. That way we can all just copy and paste them into the "fly to" box on Google Earth.

Here's some of mine:

Our house:
43 36' 49.48"N, 71 00' 24.39"W

Where we launch on Lk Winni:
43 36' 49.69"N, 71 15' 31.85"W
Image

Where we launch for Great East Lk:
43 34' 11.60"N, 71 58' 21.20"W
Image

Where we typically launch @ Great Bay to head out the river, through Portsmouth, to The Atlantic:
43 06' 56.07"N, 70 50' 05.65"W

And ...... notice the two subs at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (on the google Earth image):
43 05' 52.78"N, 70 44' 48.32"W

Graham ..... so, you're "just around the point" from Beyond the Blue.
Is taht one of the fast cat ferries coming out of Holyhead?

CT .... I'll bet that desert/canyon boating is cool. How much of that waterway is navigatable?

Yes, it's one of the fast cats, I think that's the "Stena Explorer" ( I don't think it's keeping to the harbour speed limit, by the looks of it!). They certainly kick up some wake at 40+ knots!

It's "just round the point" to Aberystwyth, but it's quite a few miles return journey. We've never made it that far: the weather can change at quite short notice here. There can be some pretty severe tidal conditions and overfalls at times along the way. North Stack, South Stack, Bardsey sound in particular, especially with the prevailing wind being South Westerly. Sailing Yachts have to leave the marina at certain states of the tide in order to go past South Stack, or they go backwards when the tide is mid flood!. Likewise with the Skerries and the North of Anglesey, when the tide is mid ebb.

Gordon, I see you are just near Kittery - my wifes favourite shopping place when we visit Boston (I used to work for a company near Lowell). Been out of Portsmouth a few times with friends.

I launch at either of the following in Melbourne - depends on which way the wind is coming from.

37 50' 48.35"S, 144 53' 54.71"E - close to the city, can cruise up the Yarra River right through the middle.

38 04' 11.69"S, 145 07' 51.18"E - easy to get to off the freeway - beautiful beaches.

On the Gippsland Lakes 37 55' 32.26"S, 147 42' 43.79"E or 37 55' 13.79"S, 147 43' 32.50"E

Batemans Bay 35 43' 06.38"S, 150 11' 47.09"E

Merimbula 36 53'46.06"S, 149 54' 38.08"E

Pambula 36 58' 01.82"S, 149 53' 04.93"E

Lake Eildon 37 13' 23.18"S, 145 55' 56.95"E (but no water in there at the moment due to drought!)

Yarawonga 36 00' 23.84"S, 146 00' 42.57"E (nasty boat ramp - big kerb at the end that ate my prop.. )

For all of you in the Northern Hemisphere - another day in well excess of 110F today - 4th in a row. Looking good for the weekend - high 90's.

Didn't someone on this board put up a Google Map that people could pin themselves on?

Have a look at
27 49' 29.13"S
153 24' 44.57"E
This is where we frequent. It is called Couran Cove Marine Resort on South Stradbroke Island.
From our house we trail the boat for 40 mins, then it takes about 15 minutes to drive here. The location gives access to all Gold Coast waterways (about 20 mins south) and Moreton Bay to the North (can motor for hours in protected water).
It's a good spot.
