Hmm, $12-14K seems to be a bit much for a damaged vessel of that size/age. From the pictures it doesn't look like it'd be all that difficult for a decent fiberglass shop to repair. The whole rear bench seat appears to be missing. Rebuilding that would be an issue. Matching the vinyl might be a problem, which would lead to greater costs as you replace ALL the vinyl to keep a consistent look. But you'd still be talking at least a couple thousand dollars, and you'd still have a 15 year old boat with all of it's other likely issues. For someone with the skills or access to bargains on getting the work done... maybe but the purchase price would have to be pretty good to make it worthwhile. |

It's well worth 4500.. Gelcoat is fixable.. as long as it wasn't too close to the fire... Of course if anyone was buying it, they would be best to see it in person first. |

Trouble is even at that price what's the chance of getting an in-water test of it this time of year? Is it good enough of a deal to even take the risk of requiring a repower or other major work? I guess it goes back to my comment about having the skills or access to getting work done inexpensively. |

This is something that I would be interested in.... I like a challenge, I like to modify, fix, putter, play or whatever you want to call it. We as boaters would quickly be able to assess the true damage with a personal inspection and make an 'on the spot' decision as to whether or not we would want to take on a project such as this. There is potential here to have some fun, use it and then make your investment back when you found another "project". The risk is that you spend too much on the fixing and you could have just bought a boat ready to go for your invested $. It's all about setting budgets and staying within those limits so you can optimize the "profit" in the end. |
