Anyone familiar with the road tax deduction on fuel used for boats? Is it a Federal or State deduction? A form number for claiming this?
Thank you much, Mike

Yup, I am. Ours is a Missouri thing....

I do mine every year. It only gives me about $20 each time ($0.17/gal), but that's about what my oil change runs so every little bit helps. This is completely separate from your Fed/State income tax return.

Make sure you follow all the info. I believe you have to be in thier system with one form for a week or two (and this is good forever) before you can actually apply for the refund with the other form. Even then, you need to have every stinkin' reciept.

Paul/Mike 230, hope you guys are doing the same!

Here in CT they give you 25 cents per gallon back on every gallon. The catch is that then they hit you with our 6% sales tax. If I did the math, I would probably owe them money.

Thanks for the link Walt. Looks like we can even deduct our lawn mower's fuel. Going to need to fire my Tax guy for such major over sights.

I know about it, but ya know, you have to actually use some fuel to claim a refund on it.

Just send them the reciept for boat wax. They might not catch on.

Hopefully that's not the misses. Remember, it's completely separate from the income tax. But yes, I include any gas NOT used on the roads and lump it into the boat gas (ie Mower, snow blower, gas powered air compressor for the blow-up dolls....oops, did I type that out loud?).
