I am seeking insurance for my boat.

So far my best quote is through Boat US - saving me almost $50 over progressive. With Progressive coming in 2nd.

Who does everyone insure their boat though? Opinions?

I get mine thru Allstate, with homeowners and car, pretty good rates from what I have seen and read.

Adding my boat to my Allstate home, auto, umbrella and life insurance policies cost me substantially less than Boat U.S.

We have our cars with Allstate. Adding the boat was about $600/year ($200 deductible, trailered, some ocean use). Boat-US was a bit more.

My insurance is costing me just under $500. Not bad for a new boat but then again the company has had all my business for 15+ years with no claims, no speeding tickets, accidents, etc.

Small company in Canada called Guarantee.

We have ours through AIG which these days I am hating the company for what they have done to our economy, but I get great rates and there coverage is great. We have an umbrella policy with the house, cars, boat ect. and the boat is $192.00/year. Of course here in Wisconsin we can only use it maybe 5 months of the year so maybe its less for that reason.

2 threads in which this was discussed at length. Might find some useful info in there in addition to what the others here have written.

I use State Farm with a discount for 3 cars and a home. While I am not sure how competitive the rate is, the claim service is excellant. I had an almost total loss with my first boat, collected the book value for the damage which was more than I paid for the boat. My homeowners and auto coverage is the same. I also have had help from my agent collecting on another boater's liability policy for an accident that was the other boaters fault.

I used to have everything with Allstate, 3 houses, 2 cars and boat. Can't beat service but the boat was pretty high. Ended up with United Marine Underwriters in KY and saved 50%. Might be worth a try.

Progressive - boat only

AAA Insurance - everything else, no boat insurance offering

Currently shopping around for something that will cover everything.

I'm another State Farmer. $538 covers it for the year including while in storage. It definitely does help when you have multiple policies (homeowners & cars). Compared to what I'm seeing here I think I'm getting a pretty good rate for a V298. Of course we probably all have different deductibles & coverage limits depending on the state we each live in. I'm guessing that state laws govern what the minimum and/or maximum limits of liability are.

Just switched from Foremost to Allstate in January. Saved about $150 a year.
