Ardy started the thread about his son taking the helm and it inspired me to pose this question. How much does your Admiral do? Does she drive the boat, drive the truck, load, unload, dock, etc....? Mine can: 1. Has driven the truck to the ramp and back home (has not backed down the ramp yet). 2. Drives the boat around the lake. 3. Drives me to the dock. I wouldnt say she actually docks though. 4. Drives the boat onto the trailer once I back it down the ramp. 5. Help tie up the boat to other boats and to the dock. 6. Most importantly she can have fun doing all of it. |

In this order: 1. Looks good on the boat. 2. Helps with anything needed, except for docking the boat (will learn this summer). 3. Backs the trailer in, hooks up the boat, cranks the last few feet onto the trailer while power loading. 4. Looks good on the boat. |

1. Looks good on the boat 2. Helps with launching and retrieving 3. Brings the boat trailer to the launch, but doesnt back it down 4. Helps with tie offs to other boats, fenders lines ect 5. Helps at the docking with the lines 6. Cleans the boat.... she is obsessed with cleaning it... 7. Drives it occasionally I had her trailer it part of the way home last year... I have some work to do on that front. |

As noted by others : 1) Looks good on the boat 2) Get's everything put away on-board (while waiting to launch or as I'm readying to get underway. 3) Assists in launch & load by handling the truck while I handle the boat. 4) Assist in docking. and, again .... makes the boat look good. While she can run the boat in a very basic sense, I will insist that she learn to fully operate the craft, this year .... and get her operator's license. She can also run the truck/trailer in forward, such as pulling it up from the ramp, but we will make some trips to a large parking lot to do some driving and backing practice. |

On a Regular basis or ocassionally? She regularly 1- keeps the seats warm. 2- tells me how to drive 3- makes sure Nathalie is safe 4- makes lunch (after I dig out and set up the BBQ but won't get me a beer !) 5- complains when I buy "stuff" for the boat She ocassionally 1- drives truck to and from ramp (only backed once when my buddy was there to help out) 2- drives the boat 3- helps with docking or tying up to others 4- helps clean the windows and interior She never 1- empties the port-a-potty 2- washes or waxes the exterior 3- helps with maintenace 4- hook the boat up to the truck 5- gases up the boat but I don't complain....to much ![]() |

As of right now, 1) Looks good on the boat ![]() 2) 3) More to come this summer, it is her first season ever having a boat of our own. We have boated with my parents for years, however its her first year to be on the water on our own. We are doing the boaters safety course next week, that way she is ready and understands the rules of the water, I have my certification but I am going to do it again to keep her company. Never hurts for a refresher course! |

Gotta love the admiral... She: 1) Looks good on the boat 2) Keeps it clean (the insides anyway) 3) Makes sure there's a cold beer or coffee ready to go 4) Manages all the bow docking activities - tying up, going through the locks, etc 5) Flips off and yells at the crew teams when they row around thinking they own the place. |

Actually, I'm a guy and I like the yellow. There, I said it. OK. 1. Looks good on the boat. 2. Helps clean & wax. 3. Takes care of everything related to the head. 4. She and the kids do the rinse & dry after leaving the ramp, while I unload & secure the interior. 5. Backs the truck down the ramp & unhooks. 6. Back the trailer in & gets us winched up, pulls us out. 7. Helps with fender & line duty. 8. Never even asks to drive the boat, even though she's fully capable of doing so. 9. Never complains about anything boat related. Good thread. I think I'll go buy flowers. |

230 Mike wrote: Actually, I'm a guy and I like the yellow. There, I said it. Nothing wrong with that. I was just curious. I happen not to be a fan of yellow boats or cars for that matter. (Although I would have to say that the yellow on the SS is much nicer than most yellow craft I have seen) To each his own. There is obviously a market for yellow or it wouldn't be a choice. |

She occasionally 1- goes boating with out me!!!! She has no problem doing everything when it come to using the boat and getting dirty. To be quite honest, she has more hours behind the wheel of the boat than me. I ride my stand up jet ski, just follow her around in the boat! The only time I drive the boat is if we don't take jet skis. |

I'm pretty lucky she will do anything I will. Docking, Trailering, Deploying and pulling the anchor, We can each do anything needed on the boat, this comes from our fishing in the ocean so much and having to be redundant for safety. |

I think we are about average; The admiral does, 1. Looks good on the boat. 2. Tend all dock lines when come into a marina. 3. Packs and assures there is plenty of food and beer. 4. Makes sure we have everthing on board for the weekend. The admiral doesn't, 1. Wash the boat. 2. Drive other than an slow speed straight course. I can't complain although I she would learn to handle under speed just in case. |
