Can you wash the mattress covers at home or do they need to be dry cleaned? |

My wife took the fabric covers off the cabin cushions of our 225 Sundowner and washed them in the washer when we brought the boat home. Dryed them in the dryer too, and they are just fine. Not sure if the mattress cover is different than the fabric covering our cushions or not, but delicate wash did not harm them. |

I used the upholstery attachment on a carpet steam-cleaning machine to clean them and then put them outside to dry. I didn't want to get into taking the covers off because I was afraid I would tear the thin plastic that is underneath them. I am pretty sure it is there to keep out mildew. |
