Well got the boat wet and spent about 4 hours running around the lake. Lots of fun. THings I noticed were that you guys are right these are stable boats. Couple of questions. RPMS at wot were showing 2900 and was showing 35 mph. I am attaching pics as well as a video. From the sounds of the motor it seemed to me that the RPM guage is not registering properly. What do you guys think? Also need to get gps so I actually know how fast I am going....Here are the pics. None at the dock as it was crazy busy.

Well you gotta lash down that air brake you got there (rear engine compartment lid)! Funny thing is that my 88 has the big sun pad/bench seat and one day the same thing happened because the previous owner did not put a latch on when he replaced the sun pad! Talk about a big suprise. When I re-did it I put a hasp on to keep it closed.

Anyway your WOT should be around 4500 or so depending on which engine you have. Make sure the throttle is opening all the way in the carb, it may need a tune up and/or a change in prop pitch.

I noticed that after the video and snapped it done. Funny the little things you miss when you don't know what to look for. It has 5.7l in it. I am taking it in to the OMC mechanic that winterized it for me to get some stuff done so I will have him check it. I want everything set up correctly and then I will maintain it from here out. Just need to get some manuals. I did pick up about 400 rpms by the end of the day and I noticed it surging a little at idle so I am thinking it needs a carb tune up.

It was 80 degrees and glass on most parts of the lake. Lots of people enjoying the great April weather considering it snowed 6 days ago.

Can't wait to see your pictures of you on the lake as you will be there soon.

Todd I looked up the spec for the 5.7 in my OMC manual and it says it should pull between 4200-4600 rpm. Check the prop, mine had the wrong one on it, the one on there was a 14 1/2 by 19 pitch, it was supposed to have a 15x 17 pitch, with the correct prop it performs much better and reaches peak rpm like it should.

Looks like you had a great day out, looking and listening to the video I think your tacho isn't reading correctly she seemed to be humming along fairly well. However a tune up and check over by a marine mechanic never goes astray IMHO

Ardy and Lou thanks for the replies. When the guys winterized it they said it should be between 4200-4600 rpms as well. I will check the prop. When I looked before I could not read it clearly. I will take my flash light with me as there is no power in the shop yet. Also it originally had a 5.0l in it that the previous owner froze. He repowered with the 350 and it has less than 50 hours on it. Could there be an issue with the difference in engines?
