Some of the new digital dash options that are being offered, are a great idea IMO for small boats as well as larger ones. Correct Craft has a neat new system on the Nautique boats that I really like. I suspect we will see more and more of these , in addition to what is currently offered, as time goes by. I like it. ![]() ![]() A short article that gives a bit more detail. http://www.tradeonlytoday.com/index.php ... rtips.html |

What happened to simplicity ! Electronics and water don't mix as well as the vibrations that these units are submitted to when you're pounding waves. I'm skeptical of all this "new" stuff in such an environment. |

I liked pay phones at onetime, but I love cell phones now. No water pick-ups all GPS, that dash panel can do more then just look pretty. Times are changing, get with it or get out of the way. |

I'm skeptical of all this "new" stuff in such an environment. "Glass Bridges" as they're called have been the norm on larger boats for some time. I've been on many yachts without a single analog gauge in the wheel house but there's plenty of redundancy. It's becoming the norm in the larger sport yachts and cruisers more and more. While all of my electronics are tied into the engine functions on my boat, I'm glad I have the gauges to fall back on should the screens go suddenly blank. But the good stuff is built with a great deal of durability for the marine environment - salt water, heavy pounding and all. It is interesting seeing it move into the sport boat sector where there's a lot less protection from the elements. One can only hope that notion has top consideration when they begin designing the new gear. |

Nothing beats watching the speedo needle go from 0 to 60+... I just don't get the same thrill with my digital jetski gauge. They look great though.. |
