Not that this hasn't already been discussed, but I thought I had someone very interested in my boat as the Ebay auction ended. We even talked on the phone about a potential price. Then he disappeared. No response to email or phone calls.

I hate when that happens.

I just needed to vent a little. Thanks for reading.

I understand what you mean. We had two interested parties last summer. The first one made an offer(low) we excepted it. Never heard from him again, and neither did the broker. Second one made an offer, we counter offered, he disappeared as well. This guy came from Ohio to look at our boat too.

You sometimes have to have the right boat, for the right person at the right time and right price the buyer is willing to pay. It can be frustrating to meet all those criteria, and sometimes next to impossible.

Hang in there, you will have some better luck soon.

I hear that. I found a buyer for mine on eBay, agreed on a price. He drove down from Michigan to pick it up, and backed out when he got here. We had the deal made on our new boat, pending sale of the old. Why waste a 5hr drive each way, when you know your going to back out?

We are probably just getting into prime boat selling season. Have had great luck with craigslist and best part is that its free. Ebay tends to bring out all the nuts - sold a car on ebay a few years ago. Got tons of questions from people that had nothing better to do but nick pick. Watched the people with questions - no bids. Guy that bought it - had never heard from until after the sale.

It is funny I have had great luck selling things on Craigs list, but have yet to get even an email from craigslist this time.

Firecadet, We are in a funny time. I think you have a great boat at a good price. I can't undrestand why it didn't sell.

Maybe captkevin is right. Nice weather may make people start looking at boats.

We sold our 1998 Maxum 3000SCR at the end of last season. We priced it below every over equivalent boat on Yachtworld and still had to accept 20% under our asking price. Once a buyer appeared we fixed anything he asked for.

All we kept saying to ourselves is we would make it up on the other side. We were patient and equally as demanding when shopping for our current boat. In the end, we got an awesome deal on a 2005 Four Winns 348 Vista.

I guess I kind of lucked out. I got what I wanted out of the 248 and absolutely smoked a deal on the 338. The 248 goes to the port of Baltimore on Friday to the buyer who's located in Italy! Money is in the bank of course. This was on ebay. Easiest possible deal; I didn't even have to show the boat!

Several of the brokers we spoke to while searching for the boat said there was a lot of overseas activity because of the weak $. I'm sure your buyer in Italy still thinks he got a great deal even after paying for shipping.
