We're on our way to harborfest in South Haven. Left the slip at 7:30. Should be there by 8:30. Lake Michigan is like glass with plenty of hazy sun. With the humidity up, we should see a perfect sunset. Gotta keep my eyes on the heading. Autopilot is next fall's mod. Alreadyhave the heading sensor installed. More later. Maybe we'll see some of u locals there!

Trip down was awesome! Boat steered itself b/c water was so flat. Major storm blew thru Thurs.pm late. Trees down at the marina across the river from us. Friday spotty rain in the am. Then cleared out to pleasantly muggy. Walked thru town & ate at Clementines. Had their world famous onion rings & perch. Listened to some great outdoor music, wandered thru the municipal marina & saw friends, drank their poison punch. Got back to boat & watched an amazing lightening show ahead of the storm front. Then a sailboat about 100 yards away from us got hit!! Glowing shrapnel floated down from the masthead. Incredible!!

Sky is crystal clear today and all the people are out.

And a little underinflated! We ran that calculation over a round of beer-garitas when they arrived and estimated they were within 5 pounds. If they were approached by USCG they said they were ready to float the cooler on a tow line. They also said they would have to deny them permission to board. "Sorry, no more room!"

We arrived in Holland about 1:00 pm on Saturday to find lots of trees down and roads flooded. Our boat was ok but the marina was flooded. Lake Macatawa was completely brown from all the runoff. We across to the north side of the lake to get some parts and saw lots of downed trees and more flooded roads.

Terry, did you notice that the boat hoist over at Parkside Marina blew over right into the lake? When we got back from South Haven Sunday we had to dodge floating debris like crazy. We headed to our marina up the lake to offload some stuff & resupply before heading out to Port Sheldon and having a spotter on deck was the order of the day. I never saw so many boats being towed in and I'm sure most had hit debris.

On the way up from S.H. when we got to Saugatuck we had to stay offshore 2-3 miles to be in blue water all the way to Holland. If you got inside that the water looked like coffee with cream in it.

We didn't get out on the water  I was trying to fix our bimini. I'm almost glad that we didn't get out, I'm a new boater and don't want to hit something. I hope it gets better by next week, we'll be there all week and I hope to get in some good boating time.
