This is my first boat with twin engines, but I have been boating for several years. I bought this boat in March and just now coming across a fuel consumption issue. The first time I topped off the tanks, I didn't notice anything odd, but wasn't looking out for it either. Then I thought that one of my gauges was stuck on full and was needing to fix the sender. The 2nd and 3rd times I filled up, I have noticed a large difference between the amount of gallons it takes to top off each tank. For example, yesterday I filled up (didn't need to, just wanted to monitor the difference), and my port tank took 32 gallons to fill up and my starboard only 4 gallons. It has only been a week since I filled up last, but just wanted to see the difference. I had a similar ratio about a month ago. First let me say, I have not used the generator for more than 5 minutes total since March (and have only used it once). I check the valves in the engine compartment and they are all turned on. I haven't referred to the manuals yet, but has anyone else had this issue. I wouldn't think that both engines draw off one tank and then the other? Another option can be the way I drive the boat. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. I try to keep the synchronization gauge at zero all the time. When the gauge is at zero, there is about a 200 rpm difference between the engines. I wouldn't think the little difference in rpms would make that large of a difference in gallon consumed. The tanks don't seem to be leaking either. Any thoughts, |

Check the crossover valves for the fuel tanks as one could have been partially closed. Steve |

Wouldn't think so. The ratio the times I filled up were to consistent. |

Double check your fuel cross over manifold valves, shut them all off then turn them on, make sure the screws are tight that hold the haddles to the ball valve. Good Luck, Joe. |

I took the kids tubing and before I knew it, I had consumed 1/3 of my port tank and very little (if any) of my starboard tank. When this happened to me in the past, it took trial and error to fix the issue, but I eventually did get the valve placement correct. I am almost certain it has to do with the way I positioned the generator value. This time I am going to write the correct valve placement in the manual. |
