As some have you may have read we were considering going to a bigger boat and one with a cuddie preferably. So I have found a few different ones that would work, two out of state, so I just sent those dealers an e-mail to get more info. Neither one has responded and it has been over a week now! Guess they don't want to sell there boats to badly. Right now we are kinda just still kicking tires trying to decide what we really want and what we really need and can afford. Probably not actually going to buy anything until maybe next season, but I find it hard to believe that can't take two minutes to respond to an e-mail to maybe get a sale. One of them I was actually very interested in if the right deal could be worked out to. I guess there loss and the marine industry in a whole seems to have piss-poor customer service. Other than Winnisquam Marine! To bad they are so damn far from me. GOing to check out there site for used stuff anyway.

You take any longer and I'll have my 261 Liberator up and going with fresh motors and drives.
I might think about letting it go after a couple of spins around the lake. lol

I have never figured out boat dealers. You do find one here and there that treat you like your
a customer instead of some pain in the ass to screw up their day.

I know what you mean. Thankfully we are dealing with a GREAT broker on our soon to be new boat.

I wish I knew you were looking, my 225 is headed to TN at the end of this week.

I have looked at a few Sundowners and don't think they are for me. A Vista would be nice, but we want something we can still tow once in a while plus going through the river in our area is a pain with a Vista with all the low bridges we have. I have heard of people with bigger boats here sometimes waiting an hour to get past one bridge and there are like 6 of them on the river in town. Leaning more towards a bigger go-fast boat such as a Powerquest, Baja, or Mirage. Would like a Fountain or Donzi, but most are way out of our price range.

Dealers get dozens of these type e-mails every week. They are short staffed in many cases, and can't reply to every "window shopper" in a timely manner. I suspect your inquiry to them included something similar to what you wrote above, if it did, I would not respond to you until I had taken care of someone who is actually interested in purchasing a boat now. A seasoned salesperson can usually tell if the inquiry is worth responding to , or not.

I did not mention the above in my e-mail. I sent serious inquires. Like I said if I found the right deal on a boat we like and I could get a fair price on trading my boat I would trade it. What I ment by kicking tires really is still trying to figure out exactly what we want. We do still really like our boat in every way except the rough ride on the choppy water we tend to have most days here.

From what you just stated, YOU dictated the terms of the sale by saying "If" you could get a good price, and "if" you could get a fair trade in value. To me , that one goes in the trash.

I guess what I mean is most boats I have looked at seem to be way over priced according to a boat salesman I know. I showed him the ones I was looking at and he checked a few different values on them Ie. retail,wholesale, and trade and all three came back 7-10K more than what he said his dealership would sell the same boat for. Just to bad he doesn't have something I am looking for right now. Pretty sure he is right on with his info to. Has no reason to lie. He is my neighbors nephew and his family owns a marina in town.

Dealers hate keyboard kickers. If you are interested in buying a boat pick up the phone and call them. Also remember NADA dropped values 18% on boats last month and most markets have not caught up yet.

Didn't know NADA did that. So I guess I should let them sit on there boats a while and check back and see how much the prices drop. Just weird with the boat market kinda being crappy still that they wouldn't want to move something if given the chance.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't believe dealers are so busy they won't respond to an e-mail inquiry. Don't list an address if you have no intention of responding. How long does it take to say "it's a great boat, come on down and let's see what we can do " ?
It's happened to me before and now they'll never get my business.

Depends on where you are. Here in Texas it is hard to find a lender to loan you the full amount for a used boat because the NADA is way below the Texas market. If your boat shopping today bring a large down payment and get ready to pay 10% interest with a 800+ credit score. Unless you are a member of USAA and they are offering 6.38% :wink:

Can't believe in this economy that they would not respond to every inquiry asap. We do at work - big or small - & you can never really tell which ones are going to become sales.

Yep, I don't understand boat dealers either. You send a single inquiry to a car dealer and you NEVER get out of them asking you to come in, are you still interested, did you buy a car, etc. Send an e-mail to a boat dealer and you simply are not for real. Much of the US does not live within easy access to a boat dealer, IMHO dealers are way out of sync with the way people do business nowadays. Too many excuses, not enough reasons, for poor customer service, and customer relations.
